You didn't mention where in the Philippines you would be traveling. Try contacting Tuhon Gaje. If you can hook up and train with him or one of his close groups you'll be set. Tim Waid can also help set you up. (if you're going to be in the right area.

Just tell them William from Rhode Island referred you.

    Contact Tuhon Leo Gaje

Train hard, have fun, and see the sites!

I've been in the Philippines 10 times and am going to live in Manila starting next summer so I may be able to help you if you give me more precisions.
There are many gyms in Manila, but no regular camp like in Thailand to my knowledge. Do you just want to go to the Philippines for martial arts or do you also want to see the countryside? What kind of fma are you looking for?

I may organize an outdoor training camp with my silat Grandmaster in the Philippines this coming summer, would be on bladework and silat with a focus on environmental training.
What is your level of fitness and experience in fmas?
          You can pm me.

Thank you everyone for all your help , i am awaiting replies now from all the contact you have given me and hopefully will be able to find something... in response to krys i would like to go specifically for the martial arts not too keen on the countryside, however where ever the martial arts may take my boyfriend and myself we will gladly follow. Also the gyms in manila do they teach fma ?

                Chun Lun:
If you look for a kind of Muay Thai training visit this link :http://www.yawyan.com/ and contact their association. I heard they have a camp in Bulacan. Yaw Yan is a good martial arts, hardcore empty hand training and they won't rip you off.

Yes there are many gyms where you can train filipino arts in Manila. Cebu city has also a large concentration of filipino martial arts associations. If you decide to stay in Manila I could recomend you to friends or you could perhaps train with us but it depends on what you want to learn, empty hands or weapons.

Before you choose a place be aware that some instructor there may want tor rip you off because you are foreigners, and there are some reputable associations/"masters" that are to be avoided because you won't learn anything from them and just loose your time and money. There are a few I can advise you to avoid....

It is just a project I discussed with my master last december, it could be anytime after end of July if we get enough peoples interested.
