"I'm not sure where you got that info but you can take it as you see fit. I don't think this discussion has any reason being here."

    ===========

But you don't deny it. What's funny to me, Mike, is that I've been nothing but nice to you, that's what amazes me the most with this whole situation. I thought it was great when Scott told me you were going to start coming down and training at AFS. We always had friendly conversations when I would see you at seminars and up at Guro Ken's. Then I find out that you're telling people this crap about me.

This whole situation is on some 7th grade level bullshit. If you see me at a seminar, don't speak to me, unless you plan on apologizing. Otherwise I don't need people like you around me, fuggin up my mojo. Take that as you see fit.

All right. Since you insist on talking about it here.

Here's the thing. I do deny that I told anyone you were kicked out of the Inosanto org. I never said any such thing to anyone. When one of my students started hanging around with you I told him that I'd *heard* you could be unreliable and that I'd *heard* you were in some rough waters with the Inosanto organization. I told him that it was a rumor but since rumors often have at least some basis in truth that he might want to be careful in his dealings with you.

I don't deny things I do. If I do them, I do them and will own up to them. I have nothing against you personally. I don't know you incredibly well but, as you say, we've always gotten along. I just passed that on to him because he was hanging out with you and I'd heard some rumors I thought he should be aware of. I thought I made it clear to him that they were rumors.

The fact that what I said got back to you in such an apparently misconstrued form is regrettable. However, it tells me that 1 of 2 things is true.

      1) it might mean the guy who told you that is, himself, not real trustworthy - though I've not had any problem trusting him in the past

      or

      2) that he's spent enough time with you that he's comfortable sharing what I said with you (or at least what he thinks he heard)

If it's 2 then you should take it as a compliment that he trusts you.

If the rumors are untrue then I do apologize. I offered those words to a student as something that might help him avoid problems - I had no intention of stirring up any problems.

        Yes, those rumors were untrue.

Apology accepted. When dealing with he said/she said situations, the true intent and/or reason behind the message invariably gets lost. Normally I prefer to let this sort of thing work itself out.

Take it easy, Mike. See you at Ken's for Tuhon Tom??

Majapahit didn't control the Malaca sultanate (which would bring it's doom later) and the Celebes.

There is no hindu monument (Majapahit was a hindu kingdom) or any other trace of hindu Majapahit in the Philippines. Actually many chinese artefacts were found in the Visayas showing that contact existed with chinese merchants.
What happened in relation with the Malay states is that half arab-malay prince escaped from the conquest of Malaca by the portuguise to the southern Philippines, he is said to have brought Islam to the Philippines and founded the first filipino sultanates.

I'm glad we got that worked out but I feel one more thing needs to be said - mostly as a reminder to myself since I remember things better if I see them or write them down.

I've been giving quite a bit of thought to this situation since we started discussing it.

While my intentions were good, my method was flawed. For that I definitely apologize. In retrospect, I should have been more generic and said something more along the lines of, "I think you're moving into this training relationship a little quick, man. I like Ernie but I don't really know him that well and neither do you. You might consider taking it slower and getting to know him before you make any commitments that could hurt you."

That would have been a much better phrasing and, I think, done a better job of conveying my true intent.

This is related to a basic character flaw in myself that I'm aware of but have had a hard time overcoming. Just when I think I've got it nailed, I do something like this.

"at Ken's for Tuhon Tom?" Either I've forgotten about this event - which wouldn't surprise me - or haven't found out about yet at all. Whether I can make it or not depends on when it is and how much it costs. My schedule is already pretty full over the next 6 months or so and it just keeps getting fuller. However, I'll look into it and see if I can make it

ive been away for abit, but lets bring this topic back into The Inosanto Silat System.

Since it is made up of other silat style's.
What is your ''Fav'' group of techinques?

I really like the Kari part! And the putar Kapala.

Yup. Kari is nice ... and, of course, it stands to reason that if you like Kari, you'd like the Puter Kepala

                    Thank you

Cipecut would probably be one of my favorites. But I also like Sera, Cimande, Cikalong, Kari, Rikesan and Harimau. Mostly I love the flow from one to another - Syabandar to Harimau or Kari to Cikalong etc.

But, really, I've liked all of the Silat that I've seen. I like the mentality of Silat in general.

Yeah, that's the Sera I was referring to. I've had exposure to it from both Mande Muda and from the de Thouars lineage. It ends up being a striking art, though, that uses strikes to unbalance the opponent to set them up for sweeps and takedowns.

LOL. Yes. In fact, Sera is Ibu Rita's specialty.

I don't know the precise lineage of the Sera in Mande Muda. Pak Vic de Thouars said he thought it might be from Mustafa - a student of Pak Serak and peer of Mas Judt and Mas Roen. But, as far as I know, that statement was an educated guess on Pak Vic's part. I've never heard anything definitive about it, though.

However, the six Sera juru in Mande Muda are obviously related to the Serak juru I've learned in the de Thouars lineage. Different, but definitely from the same root.

If you can get to a seminar with Ibu Rita, you'll probably see some of the Sera from Mande Muda.
