Do you mean the old series with Top Dog Eric Knaus or the newer one?

    Regards, Mike

I'm not sure which one is newer, but I mean the one titled, "Real Contact Stickfighting" and it's a six volume set: Power, Footwork, Siniwali, Blocks-Punyos-Thrusts, Fang Choke & Machado Ji, and Stick-vs.-Other Weapon. They do have another set called the DBMA series, how is that one? Basically I'd like to know if either are good and if it would be worthwhile to get both sets or are they repetitive (well except the krabi kabong dvd wouldn't be repetitive).

The 6 tape set is the older set.

Don't worry about if it's older or not: it is excellent.

I highly recommend the whole set.

Thanks, anyone buy both the old and new. Is it worth it to get both?

I have both sets new and old. Both are worth getting. I would start with the old set with mostly Eric teaching. I personally find Marc Denny's voice and teaching on the tapes kind of grating and annoying though he knows his stuff and demonstrates well which takes us to the second series, the grandfathers speak is cool in terms of seeing alot of the old masters, the krabikrabong dvd is mostly arlan and some marc. Knowing what i know now there is alot missing from krabi krabong dvd but its good stuff nonetheless but definitely just a basic glimpse at what the system is and can be. Go with the first set though to start, theres more than enough to get going, then order from the second specific things you like as in combining stick and footwork and krabi krabong. I feel like many others the skill, teaching and ability to do as ones says is what Eric Knauss is about and for my money the core of everything that the dog brothers is, marc denny is like the CEO/loud mouth. Just my opinion for what its worth.

Thanks, I'm gonna order that first set then - wish it was on dvd though.

Check the DBMA website, its either on DVD or coming out on it very soon. Its worth the wait, their putting new footage on the DVD versions to make it worth it for people rebuying them. Definetly get both the first and second series.

I don't get what's so special about the dog brothers. I mean, at warriors way, they've been doing that stuff for years, without pads. Some of the videos i've seen with tuhon cortez, and tuhon tom is just flat out amazing. Their training is 10x tougher than the dog brothers. Im not here to start arguments, but there is better stuff out there than dog brothers stuff

Okay, try to reread what you've written and you can't honestly say you aren't trying to start an argument. I wanted to know if their instructional videos were informative or not and that's what this thread is concerning. If you want to have a discussion between those two groups or even about the dog brothers specifically start a new thread. Or if you want to unload some warrior way merchandise and need to plug something they have then go ahead and do that.

Wish I knew that before I placed the order .

That's not what I'm here to do, I can assure you.
All am saying is that everyone makes them out to be this awsome elite group of fighters (not saying they aren't) but there are groups out there that have been doing this for decades, and get no recognition.

Actually I'm interested in what m.artist has to share, was it private footage you viewed or someting comercially available? If it was the stickgrappling DVD would you mind doing a review? As for why the big deal about the dogbrothers, well there are other groups doing similar(or perhaps superior, I'll leave that to the individuals POV ) things, they havn't put out footage of it. Or in the case of Sayoc, havn't put out footage untill recently. I've bugged Pat O'malley a coulpe times through the forums about when we'll get to see some Black Eagle Society fight footage.

In regards to what I wrote above about Pat O'malley and the BES, He said he's working on it.
