I don't remember exactly when it was written, I would guess around 1996.

That's a good article Marc. I spoke to Tuhon Mike Sayoc and he said the same thing. Back then during matches, he would be warned or told that his grappling was not allowed. In fact, I believe it was a match between he and Tom Bisio that he was told throws or grappling was not allowed. (Tuhon Mike did a one armed throw by grabbing the headgear). The Sayocs were training other arts during their brief association with PT. Tuhon Felix said he used to do alot of leg sikaran sweeps but I'll have to ask him if that was also not part of the rules back then. This was before lots of the cool gear was available in the states - just as Eric described. To practice, Tuhon Felix used to stack tires on chairs and blasted the chair legs from underneath them.

I read through it once. Then a second time. I'm reading it again the third time and as best as I can, am living vicariously through it in my head. I'm exploring the varied levels of my appreciation for FMA and stickfighting the more time I spent in reading this article as written by Top Dog. Not only did this article shut some choice people up, I feel it has opened more than just a set of eyes for each individual whose attention was paid to reading this article.

Now, I look forward even more to this next coming Saturday afternoon of stickfighting training in my backyard that begun last weekend with a few of us here in the Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg NC area.

        Chow 4 now!
