Mixed weapons/rules sparring training
Last Monday evening (10/10/05), I had the guys in the FMA class spar with mixed [padded] weapons and rules. The guy holding the padded stick was only allowed to hit at the low-line of his sparring partner(leg area) while the other guy with the padded short stick/padded dagger times his counter to gain the inside range to score on his partner. Once inside the stick range, he is also allowed to clinch, knee, elbow, kick and punch the person with the stick. For training purposes, the main purpose for the one holding the padded stick was to maintain the long range/distance and to keep his partner at bay. The other holding the padded short stick has the objective to close the gap to complete his attack.
Links below shows 2 Ft Bragg soldiers going at it(it runs only for a few seconds, but you guys get the idea)
Enjoy!
