Okay, can anyone tell me about what they know of Rene Latosa and his Escrima? I saw only a few bits of his video instructional in passing, while leaving a friend's house, but couldn't hold the interest long enough to pay enough attention. He looked okay, but I want to know from others if it (the videos) would be worth the investment.

    Thanks

Hey Gago, I hope you don't mind if I jump on the band wagon and ask a similar question. Is there anyone who has taken Latosa Escrima that could give me some insight to the art. I am considering training in it in NYC but would like to hear a personal opinion from those who know of it or from those who practice it.

        Sir,
Greetings from hot and Muggy Houston...I was caught with your interest in having a sound investment in training. This is my own opinion ....investment in time and effort weighs more than the financial aspect of things. I started training in Kali when i was still 23 years old..it was a good investment since it triggered my interest in the art and it allowed me to gain passage to the different masters(real/imagined/paper) in Mindanao. But one system really caught my attention holistically. I eradicated a lot of doubts as to what i have been doing..i am not saying that the other systems i was in are inferior..but LESKAS/LSAI just was able to answer the questions that has bothered me one time or another. Martial arts, FMA for that fact was a good investment . Now i propagate it in the way i recieved it...so if you look for a system try to ask yourself if it can answer all your questions at least most would do for a start before you invest time and money. Take care and God Bless.

You're a smart kid, Leo for even knowing-better how to do the lightning stick stuff. I admire the style alot. Good for you!
Please don't forget WHO this thread is about, and what we're really discussing here, so let's stick to the program here, pal. -What do you think of Rene Latosa? Do you like him, or not?

          Gago!

Hi, I kinda showed a downloaded video of Rene Latosa to an arnis instructor. We kinda agreed it resembled a traditional arnis that originated in the war days, which is concentrated on streetfighting. I would recommend you to learn it if you are really interested.

                sheesh!

I do know he is a legitimate Flip martial artist, for the most part, and from the Cabales Serrada Escrima camp as well. He really means well, but with all due respect, I am not impressed as much as I would like to be.
I do know that what he teaches is some good stuff, I just don't think he's as good at it.
