8 year olds and rubber knifes.

Boar, what do you think i do when 10 of the 15 of my neices and nephews show up on thanksgiving, or christmas, or whenever. I arm them all n we all just throw down dude. Yes I die a billion times over but it's fun and my refelxes are pretty damn fast from 5 years of playing with them and my other real jkd style training. Just because you take martial arts to the borderline extremes and I don't, dosen't mean you can up and say I wouldn't survive having a knife pulled on me. I've had knifes pulled on me on two occasions. One of them ended my gymnastics carrer. I have a scar from two severed tendons on the back of my right hand. I have no problem with a life or death situation, I feel I can defend myself enough to surrive any encounter that dosen't invovle a distant opponent and a gun or 6 guys armed with various weapons. If I've pissed off someone to the point where that's happening, obviously I'm doing SOMETHING wrong. Besides Boar, the best way to get out of a life or death situation, is to never get in one at all. oh yeah thats it, you avoid all the dangerous places...and only people you made mad ever attack you...whatever lets you sleep.

if you really play with those kids then you ought to know that any 8 year with a rubber knife is a handful. And they have NO idea what they are doing, give a knife to a guy with 30 years of FMA or silat and you will realize how silly isolating the arm of a standing moving attacker is.

Im not saying there is anything wrong with MMA, just realize what it isnt good at as well as what it is. you said you were gonna isolate an arm on a standing moving armed opponent, then you were gonna run get your car and run over him....those are not the replys of a seriously thought out self defense plan.

I'm tottaly not EVER serious, that's what makes me a tough opponent. I'll step on the mat for a point contact fight and stand like I'm waiting for a bus. I step on the mat for a pancrase and start doing capoeria. I **** with people. I'm always shifting man. And yes an 8 year old with a wooden knife is a handful lol. The matches I walk into all serious and stuff I loose more often than when I come out being goofy. I gotta do crazy stuff in fights to keep my self loose and concentrated. It's my style.

A billion to one? i dont think so, silat, FMA, ABC, KENDO, PIPER etc ALL have the potential to know how to use a knife. A crackhead might just have a little street experience getting close and woodpeckering you as well.

what are the odds of winning the lotto, gettting hit by lightening or bit by a shark? pretty damn high, but it happens all the time...oh wait none of those things have happened to you either....

sure i train and watch for more trouble than the average guy, its my life, its a free country, sort of.

I hope for the best and Train for the worst, you train for the ring and hope for the best...you do it your way, I'LL do it mine. i enjoy my training, it doesnt take away from my lifes enjoyment, it adds to it. My wife and kids all participate daily as well as my best friends so it isnt a bad thing.

Hey dude, i found the thread by searching the word knife...guess what, its called knife combat...I didnt notice it was in the MMA forums, I agree 100 percent it doesnt belong here, but i didnt put it here. its evident few of the people in this forum know much about it.
