  • Internal arts of FMA

I was just wandering if any Internal Arts exist in traditional Filipino systems. And if so where I could learn about them.

Many systems do have an internal component, though the sources of some ARE sometimes "borrowed". Shishir Inocalla has a strong internal emphasis, and there is also the traditional healing system of Hilot, wich many times is emphasized in some styles, such as tendencia arnis. This doesn't even take into consideration the secluded areas and tribes. Traditional Philippine (pre-coloniization) society being made up of many islands, tended to lean toward animistic beliefs so there are many internal qualities and quasi-religeous rites and excercises associated with them. The two I mentioned above are the ones Im sure of, but there are many more I just don't know about. Good luck!

      Thanks

Thanks for the info. I found some really good stuff on Hilot. It seems though that it favors women more than men. Any clarification?

Thats a diffrent type of Hilot, for women. A "Manoghilot" for women is called a midwife in engrish. Their type of hilot is for delivering babies, Giving abortions, treating pregnant women, women that just given birth in general.

The other type of "Manoghilot" is the one that treats Broken bones, Muscle sprain, liw-as etc.

There are also witch doctors which which will treat any disease that you have using elaborate rituals to drive out the demons causing the pain and will give u an anting anting to protect yourself. I personally don't believe this type of mumbo jumbo.

          ilocano method for multiple opponents-heheh

According to a smartass known as "Sakit-Chan", Here's an Iloko method which is designed to dispatch those that surround you that affects and causes to shudder their olfactory senses causing them to move away from you fast. The Method is known as "ut-tot ng balut"

          baklakana!
