I was wondering if anyone had any info on the Filipino Pana...or bow and arrow. I was curious in its history and its use. I read about it in Mark Viley's "Filipino Martial Culture".
Yo what up mike! how'd your guy do at the boxing tourney last weekend? All that labor of tearing that ring down shoulda had his shoulders in prime shape!
Anyway, it's funny but not suprising that I was taught pana as a root motion or principal wherein, you step to the rear triangle and load your rear hand while shooting the other out to either cut an angle, check or punch, essentially like you were drawing a bow. (same principal i guess).

Sounds like he did good, unfortunately thats the breaks in the fight game! Steve? Not sure if I remember him? Was he the guy I fought at the def institute? If so, man that was a suzie bar the doors drag out fight! Tell him I said whats up! As far as the pana goes, i was always taught that it should only be done when you can feasibly applay a degree of pressure right at the elbow, then as he turns, you release it wham! letting your opposite hand blast him as he turns. Anyway, give me a call Im setting up a S.E Asian martial arts camp here in august (2nd week) much as we did last year.
