It is widely known of the Japanese, Chinese, Korean among other martial arts that training in the country of origin makes a considerable difference in what you know, or think you know, what you learn, or thing you've learned, and the reality of training as a martial or survival artist.
Reality is all too often overlooked in training today’s' martial hobbyists. Hobbyists? You? Nah. Well take a look at the truth again, in the Muay Thai circles you train in Southeast Asia, and they hit you until the stick breaks.
Guru Steve* visited Thailand, for an interview at a local university. When he returned he substantiated my comments, "being hobbyists and all in America".
Well, your chance to attend a program in the Philippines is again available to us, as I believe I had allot to do with in, having visited Cebu City in 1977, I met with 22 of the leaders in Kali Silat from that region, and it was unanimous, Kali will spread in American.
That was their decision, albeit little could be done to stop it. What I like is that from the Philippines we began learning from our friends. That was evident during WWII. And, we were enlightened to the real advantages of these practices of the Philippine / Indonesian Martial Arts & Sciences.
Want to know more about our upcoming program to the Philippines, visit us at KaliSilat.org and KaliSilat.com and reserve your vacation for the training of a lifetime March 30th we depart from New York & California to Cebu City for fourteen days. You'll get good experience of the culture, hospitality and great local foods, an experience you won't forget.
Once thing is for certain, you'll get allot of those questions we have seen on this Filipino Forum. If you think about it, however, you'll find that it doesn't matter what you practice! It doesn't matter what I've practiced either, it only matters, "Can you stop me? Can I stop you?" Suryadi Jafri, 1977. And, even the weakest among you can survive, not matters what if you call upon the first weapon of choice to use, without hesitation, without thought!
See you in March, and I'll be on tour until then, warm regards to my friends in Kali Silat, I remain, Sincerely Yours, P. Greg Alland.
