Hoy brothas howzit? Hey just wanted to touch base to the guy who said the mount reversal wasn't from FMA. Actually it is contained in many kinds of fma empty hands systems, i.e (rutano, harimaw buno, dumog, etc..) since it in essence is a manner of creasing the joints to enable a man to topple over once he becomes top heavy. that is the emphasis as well with the standing fma hand techniques as well, to crease joints, and break down the base. to crank and turn on a certain axis. I myself have foubnd this to be one of my most common things that comes up in both mma or stickfighting. since we are not ground "grapplers" per say, but have to be able to fight on the ground and escape to a point where we can strike or snap a joint and move. and for the record almost any culture of people os smaller sizes utilizes this since they dont have the natural size for strenth oriented techniques.

          Woof All:

162 fotos from our "Dog Brothers Fall 2005 Gathering of the Pack":

Turning now to the question(s) posed by Samurai Guy:

          The answer has two parts:

          1) It often is as you perceive. Fighting with techical skill and technique at this level of intensity is a real good trick.

          2) There are plenty of fighters who fight really well and technically.

In the promo clip under discussion here (please feel free to check out the other ones by the way) Original Productions chose footage of fighters they thought to feature in the proposed reality series. Thus, several of the fighters were chosen precisely because they were at earlier points in their process.

Also, the excerpts they chose were for maximum immediate emotional visual impact as TV people perceive it. Remember, this is a pitch piece. It is designed to give some TV exec a quick taste of what the show would be about. For most people, the skilled stuff takes too practiced an eye to see without super slo-mo and educated voice over commentary-- and that does not fit in with the pacing requirements of a piece like this for its intended audience.

If you want to see the technical fighting, please excuse the concurrence of my financial self-interest with this suggestion but there is no way around it, buy any of our instructional DVDs. "This is Dog Brothers Martial Arts: If you see it taught, you see it fought." :-D

Hey, thanks for the replies and the answer.

Dont worry about sounding like your pushing your videos on me lol, I understand you gotta get paid for what you do.

I did actually take a look at some (most) of the other videos on the site, seemed very interesting but I dont know anyone who would want to stick fight me.

I'm still interested though and I think I might end up getting some instructionals from you, as the closest dog brother affilliate is about an hour and a half away. (Mississagau, Ontario Canada). And I'm already spending millions of dollars on gas for MMA.

Any specific instructionals youd recommend for single stick, stick fighting (31 inches by 1 1/8 inches)?

Oh another quick question, when stick fighting are the competitors allowed to wear a Judo/Jiu Jitsu Gi? I can think of a few advantages this would provide.
