I personally love my SMAK-STIKS. I have had them since they came out and they still have miles of use ahead of them.

I agree smak stiks are great.

Can somebody tell me what was used at the cold steel challenge in the sword fighting?
And where I can buy some.
        Thanks.

You sparred for a couple hours and they feel good. First of all how hard were you going? did they feel good on your hand, or when you got hit?

we were going at it almost full power.
They feel like a real stick in your hand and when you get hit it hurts...
You dont go down from the shot but you start to respect the stick.
If you like good and hard stick sparring and dont want to hurt your self, go and buy SMAK-sticks
the best I tried so far

Not to be an ass or anything but aren't rattan sticks sparring sticks, designed to be less deadly than either kamagong and bahi?

One of my students owns a pair of smak sticks. Currently those are the ones my students use because they broke my pair of padded sticks. My Student must have got screwed on the pair because the handle is not firmly attached to the stick, so when he takes a big swing with the smak stick he is left holding the handle(and somewhat disarmed). Probally very easyly repaired with super glue.

Padded sticks are good if you don't want to get hurt. However, it is the pain of getting hit with a bare stick that tells your body "Stay out of this range, don't get hit, block those shots". Pain is a excellent learning tool. If you are sparring with a padded stick and you get hit the pain factor is not as big. When i first started Kali we used padded sticks, but as i became a better arnisidor and stick fighter we switched to padded.

Padded has is a awesome training tool, without the pain aspect it helps develop striking skills. In my personal belief there needs to be a balance between Padded and Bare stick because, simply sometimes we just want to have some fun and beat the crap out of each other, but there needs to be realism or you are just training for competitions.

heavy rattan sticks and somewhat lighter stick break bones, or chip your elbow or your knee. Well padded sticks would be able to do that as well it is not very likely.

I use my kamagongs for personal drills only, never in a partner drill they are just to heavy and very easly could break fingers.

well based on what the forum title is, i will guess it is a type of sparring stick. To be more specific google says "SMAK-Stiks are padded training sticks even the “Grand Masters” of old would approve" That is quoted from the first site.

you want a pair http://smak-stiks.com/... there you go
