How much contact is there? is it like any other karate where your punc had kick as well as the knife work?

Greetings milk dud, Sayoc Kali is the bladed portion of Sayoc Fighting Systems, i have not yet had the chance to do any empty hand training with any of the instructors but if it's anything like their blade skills, and i'm sure it is, it will be of the highest calibre.

As for contact, most of my instruction has come from Tuhon Tom Kier and Guro Chuck Giangreco at their European seminars and Tuhon Kier has always emphasised contact , i personally think that it will make you a better martial artist. I have also attended a seminar with Guro Steve Lefebvre, who is an excellent martial artist and a fountain of knowledge and was at Sama Sama last year and from what i have seen there is always contact.

Their are more qualified people on this forum to answer your question, but for now i hope i could shed a little light.

Here's a little bit of contact from the Sayoc kali camp

It's on the Sayoc Kali Stickgrappler dvd instructional. One of it's kind!

        Hello Everyone,

As with any martial art, contact will be relative to the lesson being taught. There are drills that require flow practice (at first) but then they need to be integrated into your training through non cooperative force on force training (which sparring is one of several levels)

        I hope this helps!

ps: Aran, how are you my friend?

Sayoc definitely has contact........it just depends on how hard you want them to hit you; they can really accommodate "special requests" ;-)
