  • Stick-Training Equipment

What kind of training equipment do you all use for stick-fighting?

Like hitting tires or other targets, weighted sticks, etc.

Does anyone have plans for building a tire dummy?

    Best equipment is:

    1. Hockey gloves
    2. Knee pads
    3. Shin pads

This is for training not fighting. We'll be releasing a tape shortly on some functional stickfighting drills. Within the next month or two. I'll post when that happens. Personally, I don't hit a heavy bag very often. Only on a rare rare occasion. I'd advocate the use of heavier sticks more. Just my opinion though.

      Woof!

Don't hit a bag unless you want to spend a lot of time
      cleaning up when it explodes.

I have two tires hung up in my school hung like a figure 8, that I use to develop power and accuracy...use with care, too much will damage your joints. I also use a tire to develop power in my hips similar to a discus (you see a little bit of this in the power tape).

I use different size sticks and make sure that whenever I swing, I swing hard!
