where do you get your sticks and knives?

i've got a pair of sticks from century martial arts (fire-hardened or something like that) that have lasted quite a while for me and i'm looking into getting training knives from keen edges......... i was wondering where everyone else gets their equipment and how satisfied they are with it

Probably a dumb question, but are the types of machetes/swords used regional or art specific, or better suited toward particular styles?

I just tend to see the guinting swords alot with Pekiti and Dekiti Tirsia guys, and other types of swords with other systems.

Are there any systems that still train to use the panabas (sp?) or other "head" axes?

It is in fact a great question which does need addressing to, G-man.
The differences in types of blades are regional-specific. About the same way as regional dialects throughout the archipelago, and we know there's lots of different ways to speak in the PI also!

Hi,

I'm originally from the UK but I'm now living in the Philippines (until my money runs out which at 29 won't be that long!) and I'm training Kali.

I've noticed very recently their are loads of websites set up selling FMA gear and the mark up they are charging is outrageous.

I went into the city this week and picked up a couple of pairs of decent sticks. I have decided I'll try and sell what I can buy to help pay the bills and stuff.

Got mine from superfoot.com tiger rattan, they wore out fast seemed like and just recentlt snapped 6 inches off the end of both from repeated abuse.
