  • Q: Inosanto Kali

I have a question...not that it's terribly important- just wanted to know if there is a seperation between Inosanto blend FMA and the Silat he teaches, or if they are more commonly taught to compliment each other like this guy is showing.

Hope next time I get into a fight, my opponent locks out A right hand punch, that way I can go threw all my moves and look really cool too.
Unfortunatly people don't really fight like that.
We call that "dummying for the guy"
      Anyway its all good.....

        Garland,

To answer your question about Dan and FMA/Silat.... it really depends on where you train with him at. If you train with him at a seminar then he will be teaching whatever the host ask him to. Which is usually a blend of several different arts. When you go out to train with him at his school or to take privates with him it is totally different. When you train at his place he usually divides the arts up. In other words if you are training with him in Kali (arnis/eskrima) then you are getting kali... it is not mixed with pencak silat or bursilat or maphilindo silat. The same is true if you are training with him in Silat.

You can actually get certified under Guro Dan in Jun Fan Gung Fu only or in the different systems of Kali that he teaches or even in Silat only.

Hope that helps... and keep the wise cracks coming...

...yeah, in this situation it is because it's training. They also do pressure drills and aliveness training. These are just progressions...it's practice.

Then they try to apply it going all out a'la Dog Brothers...

What art do you train, buster?

Super cool. Then you know about the link between Inosanto Academy and the Dog Brothers.
You can't go all out all the time.

Garland, Sure, huge connection. I have nothing but respect for Guro Dan I. Your right, you can't go all out all the time and everyone drills or should. Its all good and no disrespect intentded......
I just pick up on the lock out right punch demos, where the opponent just stands there and gets worked, ya see it all the time........I guess I was just stereo typing. My apologise!
