  • IMAF Philippines

Sometime ago there was an article published in Black Belt magazine about the sordid state of Modern Arnis since the untimely passing of Grandmaster Remy Amador Presas, concerning successorship. Although the article mentioned many respectable masters of the art in America, almost nothing was written about the masters in the Philippines. Grandmaster Roberto Presas (Grandmaster Remy's brother) is now the recognized head of IMAF Philippines, and Master Samuel "Bambit" Dulay" has been appointed the position of National President. Master Bambit was promoted by Grandmaster Remy to the rank of 7th Degree Master on his last visit to the Philippines before he fell ill. Grandmaster Roberto has devoted his entire life to the propagation and preservation of Modern Arnis in the Philippines and is just as deserving as any member of the Presas family, to be recognized as the current head of Modern Arnis.

One of my FMA instructors trained with GM Roberto in the Philippines back in the 80's (and continued) and is ranked 7th Dan under him. They had also been trying to get him over to the states for some seminars but kept running into visa problems. Someone along the line kept denying the requests. From what I've heard and seen, I most certainly agree with you.
