I just bought a pair of Kali Sticks

I`m not sure if theres a difference between arnis/escrima/kali sticks but I was suppose to buy skipping ropes for my Muay Thai, but they had a crappy one. So I didn`t buy it, I looked around for a bit and saw some sticks. I figured they were Kali sticks so I picked them up, paid 18 bucks for each stick. (Canadian dollars) Altogether totalled about 41 bucks.

The sticks were sorta burned in a pattern-like way, kinda of smooth and shiny it was about 26 inches long,the diameter is 1 inch. It said it was made in China ? It`s suppose to be made from the Philippines right? Are there such thing as fake sticks? I`d like to know. And I am not trained in any FMA before, never had been. I`m prolly just gonna use it for display, never know when you might get attacked in your home. Hehe (uh, guns is a different story now.)

Is there such thing as real fighting Kali sticks and only-sparring sticks ?

Thxs for taking the time and do that, but do you know if there are such thing as 'Fake sticks' ? Cause mine said it was made in China, when I expected it to be made in the Philippines.

Hard to fake a stick

FMA training sticks are generally made of rattan. Fighting sticks are usually made of a hard wood (or, if you get a really nice one, "iron wood" like bahi, cocobolo, or kamagong).

The only type of "sparring" sticks would be sticks that are legal (i.e.: meet the weight and size specifications) in a stickfighting match ... and the different organizers of stickfighting matches have different rules.

I would agree that you paid a bit much for them. Most places here in the US sell the type of stick you got (burn patterns and probably had silver or gold "retina retention" tape at the ends) for $8 - $10 (US) / stick. You can usually get plain rattan sticks (i.e.: with the skin still on and no burn patterns) for $4 - $5 / stick. They're not as pretty, but they do the job. And, if all you're going to do is beat on things with them, they work *really* well.

I've ordered from both of them before. You can always order by phone or use an international postal money order.

I HAVE JUST COME BACK FROM TRAINING IN THE PHILIPPINES, I PICKED UP A PAIR OF 1.5 INCH DIAMETER KAMAGONG STICKS FOR 260 PESOS FOR THE PAIR...

I ALSO BROUGHT HOME A NUMBER OF OTHER STICKS INCLUDING RATTAN AND AN ANTIQUE BAHI STICK 50YRS OLD WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY TEACHER GM ANDY ABRIAN HE IS IN MARK WILEY'S BOOK (2000) ?? FILIPINO FIGHTING ARTS THOERY AND PRACTICE.. IT WAS TRULY AN HONOUR TO RECIEVE THIS....IT IS NOW UP ON MY WALL I WILL POST PHOTOS WHEN MY SCANNER IS RUNNING ..
