We use heavy duty rattans, 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick. We also use Hickery sticks, 1 inch think but much harder.
Our rattans smash others all the time, due to their thickness and they really pack a punch. Most rattans just piss us off, when hit with them. If you want to see them, I'll email you some pics, if you email me.
