    krys,
FMA's mongoose was originally derived from a mongoose's way of fighting a cobra.
i know they( manalo's INC) teach this style to some of their members but not openly for public.

mngoose if u'll look at is more on a circular movement just like
korean's hwa rang do. the style is very unique but powerful and deadly is aw from one of my close friend whose practicing the art.

                  Hey fellow pinoys!

I am residing in the US where I was born and grew up but have been to the Philippines many times and have stayed there for a 4 year stint at one time! Anyhow I am new to these forums but I was intrigued to see a forum filled with Pinoys who are interested in Martial Arts. I remember checking out a few dojos when I was there last. There was some Martial Arts shop I used to frequent in Virra Mall which had an assortment of cool videos, got some entertainment there. Had a friend who used to take classes in Cubao(i think) where he studied Yaw Yawn (maybe misspelled). I just remember hitting the bag there where a heavy rope was tied around it...SAKIT! heheheh... BJJ seemed to be picking up in popularity there too. Was thinking with Japan not too far away I guess it should of made it big there way sooner. I got a hint that some of the people studying jiu-jitsu were using it for offensive purposes more than defensive but I am sure by now there are some good schools to check out with credible instructors that are good role models.
I always wanted to check out Arnis but never got the chance. I can remember one of my gym instructors at a gym I worked out at fought competitively in arnis, he used to have all these hardcore scars from all that. I'll post a lil later, just saying hi!

                    Freid,
Then they claim to use the principles of arnis with their emptyhand. Ang sabi nila Zapanta(one of their best propoonents) di sila gumagamit masyado ng baston. Prrority nila ang emptyhanc. Ito'y naitanong ko lang. Hindi ako expert sa yaw yan.
Ang mahalaga ay nasa tamang direction ka Filipino martial arts is the way. Take advantage of it. Sige pare good luck. PM mo ako I can give you my seniors cell no. If you like.

I'll send the pictures to see if somebody is interested...

Actually I'm training wing chun abroad... in the Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Martial Art Association.

I've seen some wc in Manila (you know the guy on the rapid journal) but .... I was also told there is Fukien wc in Manila (they have an additional empty hand form, and their other forms are a little different from ours) but have no idea where to find it....
Do you know some good wc schools in Manila?

                            Thanks.

uhm no idea... i dont buy rapid journals too ;-) i guess their overpriced and somestuff inside are just plain BS....some are worth taking a peek though...

wc as in white crane? master william soon of ling nam teaches it(only if he chose to,'selected students' only thing...)...if its wing chun,i dont know....i never heard any schools teaching that art here...as far as 'golden age' styles here in manila...golden age meaning well established schools that tought in the 60's and earlier...there are of course, our Kong Han athletic club(go cho kun),bing kiam(go cho kun),hong xing(natural boxing),ling nam(assorted cantonese arts),sampaguita(go cho kun),and another that teaches ang poot(master georgie)...if ever i forgot to mention others...well...im just human ;-)

Yes I stoped buying Rapid journals, lot of BS.

No wc as in Wing Chun. Why is Ngo Cho Kun so popular in Manila?.... I have been told it is a short step system, close to Wing Chun..... As you have seen both systems are there similarities in their sensitivity training? Do you also use the wooden Dummy?

                                Thanks.
