sweet facade...
is that a reputable site? it comes up a lot in my searches.. seems to really promote Doce endorsed products.

they seem to be the real deal to me... and if my father also thinks good of them, which he does, then i don't doubt them. my father trained hard in arnis and judo for 15 years. also, the site doesn't seem to be overpricing the escrima sticks unlike other sites that charge $20 just for rattan. i know they don't cost that much. and i know shipping doesn't cost that much either.
as for the bahi and kamagong... ooo, yes.. very nice.

umm.. i read that post, but i wasn't sure what i could offer really...
yes, from what i understand, the "ideal" length for a stick should be your arm length (there's also a style that works with two different lengths. don't know much about that tho. :-/ ).
i don't cut my sticks tho. my sticks are both 28". and my arms are a bit shorter than that. i'm comfortable with the length. my opponent is not too far and not too close.
my suggestion is to try out the 28" and the altered length if you can... whichever if more comfortable for you after 2 - 3 practices, then you have your answer.
i'm sorry i can't offer more. hope it helps a bit tho.

But if you do ship wholesale, you have to set up a shop in Europe to receive your shipment. Still a pain in the _ss to do..
So if you think about it, it's just like oil. It's really cheap if you happen to live at the source but gets expensive when you have to send it halfway around the world.
William: I was thinking about Delrin as well. I've seen some dive gear made of that stuff and they can take a lot of abuse. How does the delrin weight in comparison to rattan? And are rods that easy to buy there?
And about your knife sparring helmets, how much are the hockey helmets that you based them on? Our group is looking into building a pair of those and we don't know who much the base helmet will cost.
In stick length: 28" is the normal and until you tall foreigners started getting into FMA, that was the only length available. But longer than 28" is common nowadays, but there's no "tradition" about these new lengths so anything goes.

I'll tell you what, I am pretty busy right now with GT Gaje and Maginoo Waid coming in next weekend, but after that I'll hunt down pricing for you. Since I live in the Hockey mecca of the USA now, getting good used equipment won't be hard.
