  • vee arnis jitsu or jeet kun do?

I am looking for a school that will train me in all the ranges of fighting. There is a vee jitsu school and jkd school near me. Both schools train in grappling, kick boxing and weapons. From the info on their web sites, the training sounds very much alike.

Can anyone tell me any major differences between the styles? If anyone has trained in both, I would appreciate any opinion you may have.

jeet kun do is the "way of the intercepting fist" and was created and developed by bruce lee. One of the most notable things about jeet kun do is that it takes the best aspects of all fighting... including fencing as well as boxing and all the asian MAs.

Vee jitsu is a little bit older than Jeet kun do. (by about 20 years or so).... professor vee. He refined and boiled down only the most effective fighting aspects from jiu jitsu kick boxing tai chi and arnis...

to be honest... jeet kun do i think is more scientifically correct because a modern martial artist took a very scientific approach to developing the art.

but at the same time when you watch ultimate fighitng championship or Pride tournaments (which is anything goes fighting)... all the fighters are jiujitsu and kickboxers...

I think that both are very viable... and a lot will depend on your sensai or master and the way the class is taught.

Jeet kun do is not a true martial art though.... its a philospohy that every modern martial artist should follow. Bruce lee only opened the door.... its up to the martial artist to walk through it.

both jeet kun do and vee jitsu were founded by great men who know their stuff.

bruce lee wanted his students to go out and try new techniques until they found the best way to do something...

personally... if i had Vee jitsu and Jeet Kun do schools both in close proximity.... id do both...
