Thats what I find curious. If Kino Mutai was a Filipino art that has been passed down, then surely, there must be some form of lineage behind it all.

For me, biting and eye gouging under given circumstances is simple, direct and non-classical.

I've just done a search on Kino Mutai on the web, and I am under the impression it is also taught by Black Eagle Escrima:

and the mystery goes on. at least we know that the form of kino-mutai was not made up for just money. i have to agree that it is just a sub-let, a simple leaf on a branch.
      until then

I agree there is nothing wrong with biting simeone to winn a fight..I myself has done that a few times..I can name names of who i bit., but the fact of the matter is..KINO MUTAI is not a legit art that is recoznized in the P.I. I am a Cebuano that hails from mindanao..and i have a good idea who gave this thing to Vunak..Kinumutai is a cebuano/visayan/central philippine dialect that means" to squeeze with ones hands because of anger and agravation". So in my dialects perspective per se..the term kinumuta is not gouging or biting..this on the first hand is what Kinumutai is.....

my understanding that kino mutai is part of dumung as that is part of kali arnis etc... it just breaks down a certain part of the concept as a specfic application of a greater art.

Like wing chun breaks down sticking hands but that is not meant to be the whole art though it has a specfic training and application and can be trained almost as if it could stand alone

I would not say that Dumog is a part of traditional Arnis.
This is another myth propagated by western teachers.......

In the Philippines Dumog is usually practiced independantly from Arnis.
Some systems practice both, but if you take the average filipino Dumuguero he won't know Arnis.....
You don't need to know Arnis to wrestle.......

Mabuhay ang filipino Silat at Arnis.
