Hi Guys
Although I've i've been carrying some form of 'penknife' since I was a kid, I'm some what new to the knife fighting world. But instantly, I saw something I don't agree with.
I'm aware of these different brands of knife like Cold Steel and Emerson etc. And I see all these different designs and models of blades, different kinds of hardness of steel etc. And I can also see prices going over $1000. And frankly.... I think it's bullshit.
And how about these fancy names they give them with apparent 'model numbers' like 'CQC mach 10 15-MKB issue 7' or something ridiculous like that. As if it were a firearm or something. I mean, what's the point?
What if you don't have the knife on your person when you're being attacked? We all know about improvising weapons in a self defense situation. Just imagine... you got some $2000 combat folder knife, it's hardened/tempered steel, has some rubberized super-grip handle thingy, the cutting edge is diamond coated and it was handmade by some village warrior in Indonesia bla bla bla. So what? If I had to, i'm sure I could achieve similar results in an SD situation with a broken piece of glass I found on the floor. Maybe not the same results, sure... I mean the encounter would become a hell of a lot more messy for both combatants, but I know I could achieve the same results with my own knife. It cost me £12.00, the handle is just hard plastic and has a crack in it from when I dropped it, the steel is 440 handmade in Italy - which is nice - but I couldn't give two craps. The blade is pointy and sharp-ish, it locks out when I open it.... what more could I ask for? The pointy end goes in the other guy. Simple.
I could go a lot further than this, but I'm sure you fellas get my point. Obviously this will stir it up a little, but I can assure you I don't want to offend anybody personally.
Happy training guys, and keep it real
