  • I used to carry a shitty folder on by belt...and sometimes a kubaton/pocket stick/yawara/whatever the ****, or a pointy ass sculpture's needle.
I liked the needle because it was seriously, SERIOUSLY concealed...and I could carry it almost openly and have easy access to it.

Now days, I only carry when I feel something shitty might happen, and try NOT to carry if I'm in a bad mood, or emotional, or whatever. I figure if I'm out drinking, or at a party, or even at a club or rave or whatever...there's usually something sitting around within arms reach I can palm and smash, poke, or choke with. (like this one time at a halloween rave a few years back, some idiot left a hammer laying out... whoopsie... some kids were threatening a friend of mine, didn't even notice me holding it behind my wrist...could've ended very poorly for everyone involved)

    • If you carry and end up using some fancy ass tactical knife I figure you could be under some serious suspicion. If you carry a work knife or a hand tool...much easier to explain, imo.

I do know some kids that don't train anything, and aren't knife freaks, that carry benchmades and spyderco's and smith&wesson folders for whatever work they do...even to their college classes...kinda trips me out. Some of them probably don't even recognise what they're carrying as a weapon. (i.e. my buddy getting frustrated in class trying to pop open a bag of gummi bears ended up slicing the goddamned thing open with his benchmade...tripped me out...what really spooked me was that nobody else noticed!)

why are you so surprised? you can find these knives at malls, sporting good stores, surplus stores, and you can even order them online. its not like they are only sold to a select few. they are easy to obtain.

Not that...it's just that some of these morons have no idea they're carrying hard-use tactical knives. Don't be an asshole...there's no need to try and patronize me, unless you are trying to be an insufferable prick...are you?

my screen name is dick hardman bro. i dont know why anyone here would ever hold me to any kind of standard whatsoever.

but no, i was just asking an honest question.

and plus, we both know that the majority of these hardcore tactical knives that most people buy never see any use beyond opening gummy bear packages and such anyway.

            • Also if you carry a hard use tactical knife and you are attacked, I think if you just slash your attacker's arm in the civilian world at least 90% of the time the attack stops. (Exceptions being Post Partum moms and LSD users.)

If you continue to slash the perp in the back after he tries to run, then I forsee major legal difficulties.

Alot of people buy weapons because they look "cool". No matter how "cool" your weapon is lack of knowledge on how to carry. deploy, and use will get you injured by an attacker or even yourself. The bonus is you might die in the same event, then you won't have to live down the shame of slicing your own hand open for your attacker.

                        • heres another good blade for self defense from spyderco. the spyderco d'allara is quite sturdy and strong, and uses a unique ball lock that is rated to be very strong by knife enthusiasts. the lock is also very smooth and slick and allows for the blade to be flicked open quite fast and effortlessly. and since the knife is built solid, you wont be damaging your knife from constant flicking. there was a guy on the knife forum im a part of that actually buried his d'allara in sand and then took it out to see if the lock would still be functional when dirty as hell and it was. it didnt fail at all. awesome blade, im pleased with mine.

                          • btw, the spyderco d'allara was made after a police officer who died in the wtc building. he was a spyderco fan, and the company decided to create this knife to commemorate him.
