actually it doesnt matter what style you learn it is just the way you like it or hate it.

if you learned kick boxing or jiu jitsu or even ninjitsu you could beat the greatest fighter in the world not because of what style you know it is the way you like it.

    • WHAT ON GOD'S EARTH ARE YOU PEOPLE SAYING!?!? A FIGHT between a computer and a typewriter!?!?!?!? I almost fell down when I saw that. At least make it two types of machines that actually fight, like maybe a modern M1A2 Abrams battle tank vs. some old WW2 tank, or like a modern F-22 Raptor versus a P-51 Mustang.

If you mean a computer would "win" in the sense that it can do this and that, this and that these days, whereas a typewriter can only type, and thus you mean kungfu is like the computer, whereas non-kungfu is like the typewriter, we already went through this argument I thought. Kung fu is not one martial art. You cannot compare kung fu to karate because kung fu is all the martial arts of China. If you wanna use kung fu as a comparison, then take all the martial arts of Japan, or all the martial arts of the Phillippines (which are some of the most vast on the planet; maybe even moreso than the Chinese arts), or all the martial arts of Western Europe (and Western Europe had some complex sword-fighting arts that could rival anything Japan or China had to offer, they just aren't as well known because the Asians have popularized the Asian styles so much). The difference is, most countries have an individual term for their particular martial arts, but no one term for every art, whereas for Chinese martial arts, they have individual terms for each art, but also one term to represent every art of the country.

You tell me a Praying Mantis kung fu stylist against a mean-ass karate or Thai fighter, of even TKD fighter, is gonna win. It would seriously depend on the fighters. Also, if kung fu is so superior, why is it never seen in the UFC??

And Japanese martial arts, Filipino martial arts, and martial arts of Africa even, and martial arts of Western Europe that the knights trained in, all had ingredients in them that helped with life events other than just martial arts training.

The Greeks and the Roman gladiators alone trained extensively in a crapload of arts too.

It is really hard for an Elementary Grade School Student to understand what the Bachelors College Degree Student advice him for his own good.........

          therefore.....

It is really hard for a Non-KungFu Fighter to understand what the KungFu Practitioner advice him in this defend.net for his own good........

          Note:
the difference of 6months of learning Martial Arts only compare to 3 years up to whole life of learning KungFu........

Blah blah blah, like it seems to be very hard for you to understan that what others advice you out of practical experience ( something you seem to lack) is for your own good

Guys like Bri have experienced violence in the street ( as part of their job) they know what is superfluous and what not
On top of that a lot of people overhere have decades training experience in a multitude of arts, can you claim the same, professor? appart from a yellow belt in shorin ryu ( of which there are 3 different schools to begin with) and training KF with the teacher that is isn't teaching right now, how long did you train KF to begin with?

I have 25 years of MA experience, Bri, I think will have about the same, Darr...well Darr was probably doing MA in his cradle already , and we can go on with the list of people who speak out of experience instead of theory

                • Don't really see a reason to argue. Karate is a great system. It teaches balance, coordination and whole body awareness. However, these are only a few of the components of fighting. Kung Fu also has its advantages, but in todays modern age has its weaknesses as well. Neither are stand alone fighting systems, but they do contribute to a persons overall fighting ability.

The K1 Final was between Musashi and Bonjaski, Karate vs MT even though Musashi lost, I think only a fool will say Musashi was defenceless
If Karate was so useless and ineffective Musashi wouldn't even have made it to the finals, the semi final he beat Aerts, former K1 champ

                          Musashi is a Seidokaikan karateka
Mc Dojo's made it bad. Karate become very popular and familiar to everyone that people knew how to fight against it.
