  • Aiki styles versus jujitsu

I'm looking at an Aikibujitsu and Jujitsu (traditional) school. My observations after being exposed to both as well as Aikido...the Aiki arts require a long path to competent self defense proficiency. Jujitsu, on the otherhand, seems to get you there quicker.

I would appreciate feedback on this observation from someone who has done either, both or just wants to weigh in. Thanks.

    Aikido and BJJ

I do practice both, with enphasis on Aikido.

Those are completelly different aproaches and have to be understood in the whole context of life and fight (refer to my other posts in BJJ).

    What I could say is:

You want to learn a fast way to punch, learn boxing.
You want to learn quicly a way to wrestle and get some floor dominance, learn jiu-jitsu.
You want to develop yourself as a whole and dominate most of lifeĀ“s situaltions, train Aikido.
You want to destroy your opponent, buy a gun.

Send me details, we may continue this...
