    Try here for some old school shotokai. More pictures of more things than you can shake a stick at. http://www.mogensgallardo.com/egami_beyond/

          http://www.daskc.org/kihon/04keri_waza.shtml will give you an idea, most of them are traditional karate so you can find tons of videos on the Internet in regards on how to do them. Not a fan of TKD so I won't touch that, I prefer shin kicks (though not MT style, I prefer MGR style; does a lot more damage to the quads )

            Thanks Koto Ryu,

            I peeped out the site briefly...........they refer to the kicks as offensive. Would you agree? The kicks seem to be more useful for defense. Thats a nice discovery for me; I'm going to check it out in more detail later. ie the shotokan site.

              This is a great site for beginners. Explains some of the Katas, Kihon, and history of shotokan. This should have what you're looking for. They used to have the kata videos right on the site but have removed them. I can post one if you'd like.
              If you want to learn how to kick, you have to kick something. Kick a heavy bag with as many kicks as you can until you're pretty good. Then look up the Japanese names. The names are not important, only what kicks you can actually do with power.

              they refer to the kicks as offensive. Would you agree? The kicks seem to be more useful for defense. Thats a nice discovery for me;
              I've never thought as a kick being defensive. All punches and kicks are offensive, even if the intention is only to set your opponent up for something else.

              Even blocks should be offensive in nature. You should try and hurt someone while blocking. Even an inside block is still a two knuckle fist to their bicep at the same time. Except for an inside snap kick I cant think of any purely defensive moves in shotokan.

                Just curious.

                What's MGR style and how are the kicks different from MT?

                Thanks.
