Can I shed some light on what is going on here? There are many places where the Bible does not be specific and therefore have left many "debatable matters" for us to wrestle over. For example, the Bible is silent on the matter of eating people. However, most of us would aggree that this behavior is not acceptable.

Bowing to idols, or however you want to word it is still debatable. Does this refer to things that are obviously idols? Does this refer to philosophical idols (money). How far do you wish to stretch this. That is up to each Christian to decide. The bottom line is that all Christians are united under the common believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross as a sacrifice and he rose again on the 3rd day to defeat death. We all also believe that we have all sinned and deserve to die for those transgressions. Therefore, we need Christ who will take all under him who ask him for help.

Then as Christians we need to honor the decisions that we each have made in our lives in regard to these debatable matters such as idols, halloween, movies, etc. Personally, I have a friend who is very involved in following politics. In my opinion, he voices his opinions in a manner that present himself to be very intelluctual and searches for praise from we humans. To me, this is pride. Furthermore, he speaks very offensively of the President. The Bible clearly states that we are to respect our leaders, as they are God-appointed. However, he retorts that democratic societies where free-speech is a right were not invented at the time of the Bible. We disagree, yet we are able to get along just fine as Christians.

John HOLM'S JUDO SCHOOL , the U.S.JUDO TRAINING CENTER
at ( JUDOCHAMPION'S.COM) has just had three differant athlete's win first place gold medals in th U.S. Junior National Olympic open in Miami Forida this past weekend. AUGUST 1st 2004.

That is more first place finishes then any other school in the country/world as the OPEN is international competition!

Wow, so the school that doesn't bow, that uses modern training methods and so on does best in the US...you must be right then......WRONG, because inspite of that, they still aren't able to become a Olympic champ anyway
Heck even small countries like Belgium en my own manage to get medals at the olympics, and guess what, we bow and first teach people to fall

BTW the fact that it is open doesn't mean that the whole worldtop enters the tournament
Believe me if I tell you there are other clubs that have the same or even a higher amount of winners in a National open event

So winning tournaments automatically mitigates your disrespect for another's culture? There really is no need to debate the matter. You join a school that requires you to bow, then you bow. Don't like it? Get the heck out. Fact of the matter is bowing is part of the culture of Japan (thus has become a part of all of it's TMA) & of a lot of countries for that matter. The analogy you've been so adamantly trying to explain to everyone here really wouldn't work. When a Japanese goes to the US to meet their business partner, they shake hands & the US partners would bow as well. They exchange both country's sign of respect - both of them bow & shake each other's hand.

Get your dates right . I said the weekend of August 1st. Before you call someone a liar double check your dates!

That was the weekend before. It was only a national tournament. They did pretty good then too huh?


The girl Leilani beat the mexican champ with ippon. She (Leilani Akiyama) had also gone up two weight divisions. From 53 kilos to 63 kilos.

I just learned that the A.A. U. , amatuer athletic union accepts judo club members and for dues of $25.00 PER YEAR INSURES WITH A $250.00 deductable. The Judo organizations will not honor that membership to allow people to compete in thier contests, THIER insurance has a $2500.00 deductable. So does that seem fair? Or very un-american? I think that shows the grasp of these elitists that want everybody to march in lock-step like a bunch of moonie-nazi's! Since when is there anything wrong with the A.A.U.?
Especially since Kano was the head of the Japanese A.A.U.

Kano was the consumate amatuer athlete, So much so that he invented a sport called judo! It was and is meant for everybody . Not just a bunch of snooty elitists that want thier ego's stroked so they make people bow to them! Kano was a high school pricipa.lBut when he invented judo Shinto was the OFFICIAL JAPANESE government religion. So it had some Shinto connotations. World War Two put an end to it except for the judo Moonies here in th U.S. still want to pretend that they are Shinto.That's O.K. but get it out in the open and quit trying to indoctrinate everyone else.

Darn didn't even know it was the second commandment but still think you know enough about Shinto
State Shinto ( which is what you are talking about) only excisted for 77 years ( from the Meji reform till the end of WW II)
"The Spirits"of the mat are good sportsmanship, fair play and respect for seniors, the word here doesn't mean ghost or something, it is like "In the spirit of the law" or "In the Spirit of John Wayne"
