    Of course not!
But these USSD guys didn't even know what art they were teaching, and their lineage was al wrong...they told me it was "karate from the shaolin temple".
Who wants to be part of something like that, where the several dan black belt instructors don't understand what they're instructing, and then trying to push it off as a legit art. It doesn't make sense.

The martial arts systems should be looked to in order to gain much more than how to fight, but they are "martial". It is a key part of it. If you can't use it, it ceases to be a "martial" art, and instead becomes dance, or organized despair....a mere shadow of a true martial art.
IT isn't a system, anyway, it is how a person takes in the systems the study that effect both the physical and, later, to different degrees, spiritual aspects of the arts.
But a martial art is not a martial art without some degree of fight.

Only my humble opinion, so don't come back and start biting at my ass for it.

Yes, I hate it when people have to use Shaolin or a name for name sake and not base their skill on their own merits

      Happens all over the world

      How true. Nice point.

On this: "Yeah, but is the MA only for fighting? Only for kicking butt?" My statement was "playing devil's advocate". It was not my personal opinion.
