No, to the contrary she's pro-Bush. Regardless of politics, I think many adults are out of touch with what is happening at today's schools. How many parents actually go inside the school during a school day? Especially high school in some places.

Adults complain that the school system isn't doing the job of raising their children and that the school system is falling behind academically, which is true. But school's jobs aren't to raise kids. They're supposed to be educating them and the parents should devote free time to raising em.

It doesn't happen with all the one parent families. Poor kids growing up in one parent families are more prone to violence and gangs. Some of the kids that get into the ring, get a little focus in their lives and learn about work ethic and I think that's a great thing.

Anyway...that shit's behind me now, I'm in college, and I don't go to places or associate with these types of people anymore...I've seen enough shit in the past three years, enough to make Caligula blush and Nero cry, and if there is a hell, I'll probably see it for being party to the things I've witnessed and been unable to change (I'm sure the blame can be passed along as well! Making martial arts weapons illiegal in USA has not changed a thing. People still buy them and can still kill people with them. Hardly at all does it happen. Most people use guns. Or knives. In most US states it is LEAGAL to own a martial arts weapon. You just cant walk around with it outside unless you are going to a gym to practice.

But you're right. People most often use guns when doing violent crimes. 99% of violent crimes are committed using guns. The less involvement the weapon takes, the more likely it is to be used. Choking is hardly ever used because of the amount of involvement it takes on part of the attacker.

1) I am not nor ever was a punker...my brother's in a band, and I went to shows with him and to watch him play because he's an important aspect of my life.

Oh...and to end this thread...anybody who knows anything about anatomy and has a desire to do so can easily fillet a human being with a steak knife, or destroy the eyes and major arteries with a ball-point pen, choke them or break their neck with anything ranging from a shoe-lace to a belt, and bash a skull against a curb, the point of a table, or with a brick, cd player, telephone, etc.
Martial arts weapons are no better than improvised weapons unless you are carrying them so they are quick to draw.

As for a serious assailant, somebody very, very good with a drawn knife can eviscerate somebody with a gun that's holstered by closing an 11 foot gap in plain sight (by the time most civilians can draw a gun they're stuck...I remember an old video with Guro Dan where they tested this against a cop...)...that's not even getting the jump on them...A gun. If a gun doesn't do you any good...what the hell is a quick stick going to do, or a shuriken or something...oh wait...let me unhinge this shit from my belt, or under my shoulder??...man...smarter to just grab the closest thing to you, thow it and gain some distance so you can employ more serious shit.

Why would it embolden them if all of a sudden they too had to risk injury. What emboldens them is knowing they can run in with a gun (which scares everybody) and get out without getting into a scuffle. The fact that they do not have to get to the level of involvement that other weapons need...that is what emboldens coward. No fear of retaliation.

Look at countries to do not allow citizens to have guns (or the police to have guns for that matter.) These are not crime ridden countries, but for the most part have less violent crime than here in the US. Travel around a little...the countries that allow everyone to have guns are very violent by comparison.

And I never said that people should not be allowed to have guns. But thinking that everyone should have a gun, and that a gun is the only means of effective self-defense is rediculous. Just as some people Could never be capable of defending themselves, Some people Should not have guns. There should not be a blind blanket rule here.

No I am not content to let people rob my house, but it happens, and usually they have been children, or teenagers. Hardly threatening enough to use a gun. What am I going to do...hold them up? Better to beat the snot out of them with a tee-ball bat, or club. I have dogs, and a rule in my family has always been to keep a good weapon around every corner and people where I live know that breaking into my house would be a bad mistake. But sometimes sht just happens. I'm not going to hide behind a gun, in fear that someday someone Might break into my house. Or someone Might do something bad to me, or any one of these numerous "What if" fear scenarios. I know how to protect myself, my family and my territory. My family members all know how to fight very well.

The laws that dont make sense are that you are allowed to get a liscense to carry a concealed gun, but you cant get one for a knife or a sword. You are allowed to carry really long poles or staffs but it is illiegal to carry escrima type weapons, but you can carry a freaking baseball bat. The laws are stupid like that. You can carry a kitchen knife down the road but a switchblade is illiegal. Throwing stars are illiegal as well.

Whats more dangerous? A gun or shuriken? You can improvie so many weapons that are worse then a martial arts weapon. It makes no sense.

I also think they need to have longer background checks before issuing guns to people. Taking guns away from citizens is stupif though, because the criminals no matter what will find guns anyway through the black market, then citizens who want to defend themselves wont be able to. Also we cannot tell the futer, and part of the reason guns are allowed was because in the revolutionary war england attacked so we needed everyone to have guns to defend our country. Whos to say that years and years and years from now we wont be attacked and if we dont have guns for every civilian then we will all die. Its about urban warfare in the streets. You can luagh at this but thats one reason, I mean a lot of countries hate the US. There are also the threats of terrorists. But mainly its because criminals have guns all the time.
