I think the best way to solve this is to just have everyone here meet in one place and then start fighting and doing joint locks. Whoever can do the best most effective joint throws or whatever is the winner.

I personally think that technique is more important for joint locks then is strength but if you do not have strength then it will be impossible for you to pull off the locks and throws and trips no matter what. If you are some white belt kid or green belt even and you go up against a black belt you are not going to get any locks in. People resist and flail around people can counter yout locks and get you in them, you HAVE to be strong enough to pull it off and to be strong enough to punch people and kick them to loosen their body up and then be fast enough to go in for the kill and break a bunch of bones. That is physical strength.
But if you are stupid and just want to lift weights and get huge muscled and then you think you are baddass and you just muscle around a black belt and he is smaller, yet still trained for years the right way then he is going to kick your ass.
In my Taekwondo classes I always could throw this huge BUFF strong man all the time with joint locks and sweeps and throws. I was not physically able to lift as much as him but my technique was WAY better so I could ALWAYS beat him in this way. Even if he resisted I would switch up and change it. And I by no means am a master of locking (for cyring out loud I was in a WTF TKD school haha), but I trained seriously to fight in self defense by myself and thats why I was better then everyone else in that school.

      yeah

Oh ya and that fat ninjutsu sword guy I was talking about was in one of the clips posted in the thread titled "any clips of a ninjitsu fighter?" One guy posted a site that has several video clips and one of them is a sword technique and the guy is really fat. I dont care if he knows the sword good, why is he so fat and claiming to be a ninja?

Fat people always roll really well across the ground its funny. Because they are shaped like big balls.

Ya koto_ryu, I agree with everything you say, I think we just misunderstood each other somewhat initially was all.

As I said then, whatever ninjutsu that woman practices, or HOW she practices it maybe I should say, is B.S. (the ninjutsu itself is probably right, but she probably trains for it wrong I guess).

Figured that's who you meant Yeah, that's one of my senseis, Sensei Dave. He used to be a real hardcore bodybuilder until he injured his back about 8 months ago, slipped disc and all, so he hasn't been able to do any of the stuff he used to. Don't let that fool ya though, he's still in really good shape, strong as a bear, and he is just plain vicious with his technique. He just doesn't like dieting

                    He's ninja. The fat is a disguise. . . .

He seems like he knows some stuff and I can respect that, but I just dont understand why he is still fat. A martial arts person is suppossed to stay in good health even though they get injured. I mean cmon! He wouldnt be fat if he ate right and he would still have some of his muscle.

He can probably brawl well but can he run around and jump over fences and off of roofs and hide in shadows well? Cause he is suppossed to be able to do that you know in ninjutsu.

I would also like to see some of these ninjutsu techniques at fast paced speed and not soe predictably slow. I know they are teaching people things but I want to see some fast reaction demo of stuff like improvised stuff that just comes to their heads right away. I just want to see what a realistic ninjutsu technique looks like. I know their stuff is realistic but I just mean the same stuff but real life speed.

Don't let the fat fool you. you can be fat and still be fit. My teacher (may he R.I.P.) was short, stubby, with short limbs. But he was deceptively quick and powerful and could run most people into the ground.

As I mentioned once before, when I was doing Muay Thai out in Okinawa I used to work with a buddy of mine on body hardening. He took Meibukan Goju-Ryu, which concentrates solely on street self-defense, body hardening, and traditional kata. The first day I went in there I met Wade, the instructor. He was about 6' and 250, some of it muscle but a lot of fat. He was a kindergarten teacher and when I first met him I thought he wasn't shit. Boy, was I wrong! I did my body conditioning with him, and he kicked my ass, my strongest kicks didn't do shit to him and once he had a go, he almost literally tapped my thigh and I was almost on the ground. After seeing him kick an industrial steel fan (straight shin too, they use the shin for kicking after their old sensei travelled through Thailand fighting and picking up techniques) and bend that motherfucker in half, I learned right away NEVER judge somebody based on looks alone.

Also for the fitness thing, take my buddy Mendoza. Not too fat, but he definitely had a good bit of extra bulk. He'd still smoke us on every run we did (finishing a good 6 mile run at an even 32 minutes on most occasions) and you could never get the man tired no matter how much you grappled with him. He and I used to grapple a good bit, as he was a BJJer and liked my sub wrestling style as it was different than what he was used to. We'd do bull in the rings, 5 guys on him, and we'd be breaking out in a sweat after a few go's and he'd barely be breathing hard. So you never know

Yeah some fat guys have a good heart condition better then skinny guys at times. But you have to understand that a guy who is awsome and fat could be even more awsome if he lost the fat and got the muscle and was lean. So why doesnt a master instructor who is fat try to look good for his students and be even better?

Also fat guys cannot hide as well and jump around and climb trees as good as a more fit guy. Like marines and navy seals do deadly stuff but they are all lean and fit.

LOL not all of em trust me. Being a former Marine, I can tell you, we had our fair share of porkers. My buddy Leffler could do 30 one-arm pullups with either arm, but he could barely run 3 miles in 28 minutes as his thighs were so damn big they kept rubbing together.

As for speed, the demos were more to show off techniques than speed. We go at a good pace in the dojo, so if you're not careful you can often get popped (I was off my game last night and got kneed in the balls myself). We do a lot of different defenses in the Bujinkan as we concentrate on realistic self-defense and they also tap into everybody's resources and use what they can to learn how to fight against others. They use me for boxing or capoeira, Vito, since he was a TKD stylist, and Brian, since he does Muay Thai on the side. James is also an indy wrestler, Jeff did several years of kung fu, and we also some karateka and grapplers. We just tap into each other's resources and experiences and learn how to defend against the different styles, combination attacks, weapons, grappling, etc.

Well you see he cant even run 3 miles. A ninja is suppossed to be able to run WAY more then 3 miles and not be that tired.

Also there is nothing wrong with taking stuff from other styles but you cant go around saying you are a ninja or something if you are that fat and whatever....I just dont respect it...now if he said he was a wrestler or whatever then I could respect that I guess but hopefully he has more muscle then fat.
and capeora? Why bother? its just a dance show...
