I get slammed every once in a while when trying to put an arm bar on. As long as you exhale and tense your muscle before impact there is little chance of hurting yourself; and thats with both arms on his arm (no arms to break the fall). I have had this done on hard surfaces too, not just mats.

Yep, plenty of times.............7 years (and counting) of jujitsu made my body as hard as nails...............When I stumble...........I either catch myself before falling or take the fall as if it were nothing. We used to do breakfalls for 30 minutes sometimes before we began our formal kata or randori training.

This is weird. Hardball, when I responded to your thread about falling out of a truck I had forgotten that I already mentioned that story 2 years earlier on this thread. It's funny how my language is almost the same between the two stories. I'm too predicatble.
I have another one for you.. I still haven't lived it down...
I was teaching, yes, in a public school, in front of 8th graders..
I have this demonstration table upfront that comes up to about your waist when you are standing behind it. Well, I wasn't standing, I was sitting, on my cheap 5$ walmart stool (this is no fault of the stool). I rarely actually sit on something normally. I often have at least one foot tucked underneath me. Well, I shifted my weight to put the other foot underneath me, in the middle of my lecture. Not sure what happened, but I managed to make sure that there was no part of me anymore on the stool. Boom, I fell off. No stumbling. No teetering. Just boom. In front of the class. Yes, I fell into a side fall, yes, I popped back up and (tried) continued what I was doing. Yes, they laughed for about 10 minutes straight. Yes, they still (a year later) ask me how my stool's doing.
