    Personally I think olympic wrestler.
I may be wrong, but I think there is a much larger base of wrestlers competing. This means that the top guys are awesome. They have fought many people, learned tricks from all of them, and still rose to the top. I dont think there are as many people competing for olympic Judo.

      Wrestler.

Judoka are great grapplers, but I have heard about matches involving top ranked collegiate freestyle guys against high ranked judoka and for the most part the wrestlers get their takedowns and top position.

I think it depends on where you live in my country the base of Judoka is way way bigger than that of wrestlers
Probably a Ratio of 10:1 or higher
So what's true for Wrestling in the US is true for Judo in most of the EU

It would depend what they were doing. If they were wrestling, I'm with the wrestler. If they're playing Judo, I'm with the Judoka. If they're playing MMA, hmm, probably the wrestler... If they're playing chess, who knows!

Judo guy wins in NHB. All a wrestler could do is GNP. Even if the wrestler double-legged the judoka, the judoka would just pull guard, and that's assuming he doesn't know anything about the sprawl. There's no "Oh your shoulders touched the ground you lose!" in NHB. Judo is as much an evolving art as wrestling, but is much less limited by the rules.

What's up Alex. So the judo guy sprawls, does it end there for the wrestler? No. He can still work around the sprawl. Didn't say it was easy, but it is possible. If the judo guy pulls guard on the wrestler, he can proceed to GNP...of course that opens the wrestler up for triangles and armbars keeping his arms out, but still keeps the judoka on the defensive. Who knows where it would go from there?

Maybe the wrestler proceeds to GNP until the judoka can no longer defend himself. Maybe the judoka pulls a guard sweep and tries to choke the wrestler. Maybe the wrestler re-establishes his base in the guard and stacks the judoka into the mats; maybe the judoka makes the wrestler miss a punch and pulls a quick armbar....who knows???

It depends how hard your shoulders touch the ground from stand up. I think Judo is brilliant, but I think wrestlers are more athletic and more offensive. Both are capable in real situations and based on applied physics, but I am biased thinking that wrestlers would probably best most of the judoka.

                    Maybe not all of them.

This thread is reminiscent of the old western boxing vs. muay thai threads. A good debate. Just don't let it get out of hand.

Standing in MMA the most used and effective throw is a wrestlingthrow, on the ground the most effective tegniques are judotechniques ( OK JJ)

Wrestlers seems to be faster but I am comparing wrestling lightweights with judo heavyweights ( this is what I have seen te most)

Wrestler would take it to the ground fast but judoka would still en on top during the fall ( they try very hard not to land on their back when thrown) if he can't the wrestler might finnish with gound and pound, if he can end on top the judoka could finnish with a submission

Hard to say how it would end

But hey, I haven't seen much wrestling ( except for WWE, NWA and CZW) mostly Judo

LOL at a wreslter getting killed in NHB, or UFC by a Judoka... the only thing the wrestler could go for is a ground and pound... shit have you ever heard of this one wrestler... oh shit what was his name... he won a few U.S Greco Roman Wrestling champions.. hmm lemme think, pretty succesful in the UFC.... oh shit yeah, the light-heavyweight champion Randy Couture.... too bad hes never fought a Judo guy.... the judo guy would have killed him right.

(Yes I realize Randy knows more than wrestling, but the majority of his fights are GNP, and his style is listed as Wrestling, and hes known as a Greco Roman Wrestler)

oh and if Couture isnt enough to show the power of a wrestlers ground and pound.... I belive its worked for Tito Ortiz....

                          Hmmm...

Shamrock isn't a pure wrestler, but did pankration which is a wrestling/muay thai/submissions kind of art.

He was able to best Christof Leninger, a 3rd dan in Judo (if my memory serves correct).

You know what would be a good matchup?

                          Dan Severn vs. Remco Pardoel!!!!

You're right, but I think he is also highly ranked in judo.
