Besides getting a gun, or running away, what would be a good simple strategy to defend against the flurry of haymakers that teenage gang types throw?? I have seen a few videos of gang fights taken during parties, and it is always the same thing...no technique or skills, just fast haymakers one after another...is there a good "fight ender"? Do you approach it as a boxer would, and just be prepared to take a few blows before you connect?

    running.
Usually if you do punk the bitch, you'll end up with his pals on top of you anyway. Get a shot or two in if you have to, and then get the **** out of there, leave no trace of who you are...so they can't come to you're house or work and shoot it up one night.

      Hi, I said "besides running"...

What I mean is, do you stick them in the neck with your thumb? The balls? Nose shot? Kick to the knees? What??

What would the average martial artist do when confronted by someone who fires non-linear punches at them in rapid succession?

I am asking because I can't seem to understand how the average talking monkey gang member wins fights (when not with friends). I mean, these guys are not disciplined, nor smart, nor trained...is it just that they are much more willing to fight and be brutal at the drop of a hat? These pie-holes don't seem to be smart enough to know locks, holds and do grappling.

I am having trouble imagining why someone who trains in martial arts weekly, would ever have a problem fighting one of these shaved gorillas...yet from reading posts, there are black-belts who walk out of the dojo (or Dojang) and get thier asses kicked...by monkeys! How is that possible??

(Ps, I called them Talking monkeys or shaved gorillas because that's what they look like out here in SoCal.....they all wear the same white t-shirt, have baggy jeans, shaved head, no necks, can't speak beyond a few words (wassup) and generally have a mean and dumb look on thier faces)

...is it just that they are much more willing to fight and be brutal at the drop of a hat?

              There's the answer right there.

Learning to 'fight' in the gym is a whole different thing than wanting to fight in the street.

if a group jumps you the best thing to do is run....if you can run make sure u have good takedown defense and balance and punch and elbow as hard as you can to make a route for your escape and run like hell.

                  High percentage techniques.
                  Dirty fighting.
Pick the smallest guy there and rip him into pieces.
If you can, get the biggest guy or the guy who seems to be the alpha, and hurt him quick and definitivly.
(i.e. spit in the guys eyes and simultaneously hit the guy first in the throat, and immediately break something, use you're enviornment, if you're on a curb, try to get his arm over the edge and stomp as hard as you can, by a car? grab his har and try to put his head through the window...if the door's open...even better. slam slam slam, stomp, slam slam.)

rule #1 avoid that shit like the plague, stay out of the areas where they hang out looking for opportunities to prove themselves to thier buddies.

if forced to fight, fight dirty, make sure if you go to the hospital, they do too

wild punches are perfect opportunities for stomp kicks to the sternum and knees and the top of the foot.

Stay the hell off the ground, remember they arent good fighters they just like to fight, its part of thier identity to be a tough guy. Try not to create situations that make you seem like the guy to "show off" on

mobility is critical, watch for his buddies to come to the rescue. Most of them have never really been worked over by anyone with skill, and they expect you to be as poor a fighter as they are. When they figure out you arent, expect weapons and friends to appear. Make a hole go through it get the hell out of there. Think about what just happened to Lee Murray... thugs on the street may not have alot of skill but they have weapons and numbers.

you can do many things, but first that come to mind are, a side or thrust kick to the knee or lower area of the guy, if he is throwing wild upper body and face hits, and he isnt disciplined then he wont think to protect his vulnerable unconditioned legs wich can easily be broken by 1 or 2 good kicks.

You sound like a white suppresist guy or a Teacher.

anyway. duck under the first haymaker, left hook to the ribs, then right uppercut/hook to face. My friend fought someone in a bathroom and dodged a haymaker then through combinations at the kid untill the kid was against the wall and cowering.

That was pretty good specific info, jab..thanks.

                            No, not a white supremist..nor a teacher!

Just someone who is sick of these gang dudes and the gang wannabees. When you live among them, you start to get tired...tired of the insolent looks they give you, tired of them trying to push everyone around.....

The other day there was a local story about a young Mexican american serviceman, just finished with 2 tours in Iraq. He came home and had recently got married, to his high school sweetheart. She was very pregnant..showing..anyway, this kid had always been good, serious, patriotic...never in a gang or any other trouble.

He was in the mall with his wife, when two asshole gang members approached him..."where ya from?"...(to this question, there never is a right answer..BTW)...he tries to walk away, and one of the gang monkeys clocks him in the back of the head...then stabs him dead....then sticks a knife is the girlfriends stomach....it was all caught on survellance video.

I am sick of it. Sick of them, sick of thier whole lifestyle. I believe they are just taking up valuable air and space in this world. And I would feel the same way even if they were predominatly Canadian.

running is always a good way to stop a fight, if you can run faster. dont forget your knees.. you do not grapple against multiple guys, and you stay the hell off the floor. if you go for a lock, do it along the lines of twist the arm and hit the elbow hard.. your looking for breaks not for submission here. necks are good places to punch. a hard knee in the stomach will upset most people somewhat, if you can get the head even better. main point is to hit as hard and fast as possible, fight more savagely than they are. you see a knife, run however the fights going.

who said a few good kicks will break their leg? that seems so unlikely to me. a good shin kick will make chasing after you difficult tho.

beware side kicks and front kicks... if your gonna kick, kick low and use the thai kick. if your shins cant take that, dont kick them. not enough space. and the lovely, smooth rapid kicks of karate dont actually work very well on the street.

hope some of that helps and you can ignore/read past the typos im sure are in there. final point... see a knife... RUN. dont pull one of your own, or try to kick it out of their hand. just run.
