I was wondering if there are still any surviving schools of Hojo-Jutsu, the art of rope binding. if so, any idea where I can get info on it?

Knots and things
Good question. While ropes and knots are all good the idea of improvised "rope" as some other flexible weapon is also hojojutsu. Phone cord comes to mind if you remember when they used to be attached to a wall but I like big zip ties or just regular old handcuffs myself...
Parachute cord is always handy.
Good luck with the search.

Actually, the bondage scene might be closer to the ancient art than we thinks?
If not for the fact that it's a complete perversion of the actual intent of the art...
Kinda like "foxy" boxing.

Kinda like "foxy" boxing.A large number of those deeply into combat arts are ugh...kinky...letting thier art and fun mix is fairly common...all the actual names for the knots as well competitions for authenticity are common. blade work finds its way into the play as "fun" as well, its not unusual to see the same crowd you see at a knife show at the bon-con

that was actually my aim, let's just say my gf and I are into "alternatives" but I can definitly see one of the feudal policemen coming home one night with that in mind. I wonder how many of the names for knots were actually euphemism's for such activity. anyone else have any ideas about it?

Isn't it still considered clean if it is intended in a scholarly manner? anyway, Euphemisms are intended for cleanliness anyway. But I didn't only mean about the euphemisms, I meant ideas in general.

Being subjected to restraint like this is more than a bit degrading. Face it, you wouldn't want your wife or kids (or parents) to see you in handcuffs? Charged with some horrible crime, especially if you were not guilty of it? Honor is a biggie in the Japanese tradition. It is why there were specific colors of rope to bind suspected criminals. To preserve the integrity of honor you could not use a knot in the rope. You could not let anyone see how you bound the suspect nor was it supposed to inflict pain or trauma.
The last thing anyone wants is to be seen tied up and naked... Isn't binding a traditional tactic of the execution style homicide?

I do not consider it a decline, what could be more enlightening, more liberating than doing what truly brings you pleasure. There is nothing wrong with someone expressing their deepest wants and needs, as long as no one is hurt any more than they want to be, and every one is willing. the main rule we adhere to is "safe and sane." I think people being forced to supress these feeling is more of a decline than their being allowed to express it. We are not the freaks we are painted to be, we are no less normal than anyone else.
