I have done Tomiki Aikido. I have seen it used successfully in street encounters (students & instructors that were cops) It would help in timing & distance in MMA a great deal, but it would take at least a year to notice any benefit ( for MMA ) and thus might be frustrating for you. Also 90% of the time I've seen aikido used effectively it looks NOTHING like what happens in class or in a Segal movie. It's usually pretty funny, but hey if it works it's OK for the street, but I generally suggest the young, fit, and strong try something else.

You can incorporate aspects of anything with anything else (generally speaking).
You don't need to have a sword in your hand every moment to practice/use Aikido.
You can grapple with a sword in your hand.
But I get your point.

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves. Albert Einstein
When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.
