What is your understanding of this Judo term? I was told this week that it means the same as a pile drive. Thanks in advance for your discussion and responses.

Excellent vids. Based on my knowledge of japanese and judo terms I conclude that My classmate was right. Makikomi means pile drive. Even looking at your vids of the Hane throw, the soto throw and the other throws, the tori is falling on the uke which is the same as pile driving. On some throws tori does not fall on uke; in fact sometimes falling on uke is illegal. Thanks for the vids. Makikomi = piledrive or falling on your uke NOT wrap a around. In fact wrap around is agoshi. I think.
