  • Weapon Fighting

I didn't see a forum categorey for weapons so i just stuck this here.

Anyone interested in weapon fighting? I've been fighting for half a year under a master and i recently finished a GREAT book on fighting. a fiction thatteaches very effective moves for several weapons from japanese and european origins.

if anybody is interested you can check it out at www.spearduel.com

ps: if there is a forum for this type of thing (and again i didn't see any) could someone tell me?

there's no "weapons forum" so you're right to just post it where it fits best.

What weapons have you been training with

In the past I did do weapon training too
      trained with the following weapons:
Japanese Jo, Bo, La canne (french stichfighting), Katana(Iaido), sai, tonfa, nunchaku and nicho kama

always did it as extra training but right now do not have the time to train in any of them anymore

I have trained in Spear, Naginata, Jo, Tetsubo, Katana, No-Dachi, Pole Flail, Basket Hilt and Shield, Claymore, and weapon throwing (axe, knife, shuriken, fork).

I've done a leeeeetle yari and bo [in the context of kenpo and ninjutsu], jo and katana [in the context of aikido]. In the Chinese context I've done a little jian [straight sword] and dao [sabre] work. 99% of it was kata-based though.

For fighting, all my experience comes from Filipino martial arts [knife, sword [bolo/machete]/stick], except for one summer of foil fencing back when I was in junior high.

Mostly stick and knife. A little staff, some sword and throwing darts.

The only time I can think of throwing darts as a weapon is while folks are throwing down suds...

Can this be transferred over to blade throwing?

Sorry, Yes I meant throwing spikes I believe of the Cold Steel variety.

But billiards darts are good practice too.

How many of you guys spar with weapons?. I feel that that is the only way to fully learn any martial art.

The only weapons sparring I've done was in the JKD/FMA context, foil fencing aside.
