  • Does Kendo hurt your head?

Does Kendo hurt your head? I watched some Internet videos and the shinai's impact on the head seems to be pretty heavy.

I'm fine with bruises on the arms or body. However, I'm concerned about repeated head shots.

my best buddy is a second degree black belt in kendo. he's still a very bright fellow with no noticeable negative impacts from the "repeated headshots . he has however, complained of the thrusts to the throat guard

My mom did it for a while.

As I understand, the head is pretty well protected by the mask that rests on the shoulders. My mom however had a deterioration in the vertebrae in her neck and that got irritated a bunch when the 'Warriors' t'd off with her head...

Depends on how often you "create vulnerability in yourself." But yes you can definitely feel like a cartoon character after a good shot to the Men.

The answer is 'yes,' it hurts, but 'no,' it won't kill ya.

If you are tall and your opponent hits you on the men-gane, no - not at all.

Of you are shorter than the other guy, he may catch you across the top of the men, which does hurt.
