You know, like if we have a class were I attack you with a high punch, and you defend with some silly block and counter..... then you are the Uke.

Mind you, I never met a Tori in real life who told me what he was going to do and waited until I was ready. But that's another story!
Actually, that's backwards. No worries though. Hardball caught it.

My worse uke experience was when I uked for a guys Black Belt test in Japansese Jujitsu. The test was 6 hours long and I was testing for 1st brown. The guy was so pumped for his black belt that on one hammer lock takedown it turned in to a slamming pile drive. I yellled when I hit the mat. To my amazement I was o.k. the next day. As soon as the test was over I had my wife put two ice packs on my back and shoulders for a couple of hours.

In the simplest terms possible, the "uke" part of ukemi as in "Tori and Uke" means "receiving" and is a person who is on the receiving end of throw.

In Japanese martial arts, the uke is the person who "receives" a technique.

(Even when he may initiate the attack to receive the defending technique he is still the uke...)

            ....!
Uke: submissive, bottom position, the one who receives the the (attack or defense) technique. The one being thrown in judo.

"In Judo". In Aiki arts it's the Uke who initiates the attack. Tori uses Ukes energy against him to execute the throw or 'lock'. So both you and Uke are both right.

I can't imagine a Judo master not teaching you the meaning of Uke & Tori.

No matter what Japanese art it is, the uke always winds up being the indivdual that the technique is demonstrated on. The issue wasn't with who initiates the attack. It had to do with who wound up in pain or on the ground.

That is and always has been the essence of uke and tori. I don't need to look that up or copy and paste a definition because unlike you I know my shit.

I don't mind you calling me an imbecile. I know this was supposed be payback for me exposing the fact that you didn't know that JKD is supposed to be formless ... a telltale sign of fraud because you didn't even know the essence of your own system. Hehehe ... that was fun and easy. Just a little background for those who don't know where your seemingly unfounded hostility stems from.

                    Preach on, oh venerable master.

                        LOL

You know I don't give a rats ass what you THINK you know about ANYTHING or ANYONE.

The way I figure it, you'll shoot your shit hole off to the wrong guy sooner or later, it's just a matter of time.

The only sad thing about that is I won't be there to laugh my ass off.

Where did you read that anyone asked if you cared or what you thought? I see you're still delusional.

And unless its you doing the asskicking you're just another chump blowing out birthday candles wishing that someone will do for you what you can't yourself.

                          Keep on dreamin', Tantrum01.

As whiney and needy as Troll Virus is, he still makes 10 times the contribution that jubaji does on these forums. Five years of ad libs and one liners? I don't know who jubaji is blowing to have avoided being banned for this long, but he's obviously a pro. Maybe I'll ask to have your handle officially changed from jubaji to jublowme.

                              Fits nicely.
