What do you guys think about Ashihara and/or Enshin karate?

    not much....(?)

In some ways they go against what "Karatedo" allegedly stands for. In so far as Kyokushin(kai) supposedly expelled Ashihara back in 1979.

(Geeez I'm old...) Anyway... They both have a history of championships in Japan and "world" level players.

Some folks call it "Fighting" karate... If I were looking to learn Karate I might start there.

Do you know what Ashihara was expelled for? Also, what are your thoughts on Joko Ninomya? It's funny how Enshin resembles Ashihara, but he 'invented' it.

        Nope.

Mostly politics, he had a bad rep in Kyokushin since the mid 60's. (for fighting)

One of his students won the title in Japan in 78 and shortly after that he was expelled...(or quit depending on your source)

I doubt anyone (Ninomya) really invented anything new. The principle of taisabaki has been around longer than either of them. Not to diminish his acomplishments in the art.

        To each his own, eh?

It's not much of a stretch to see why if you know that Ninomya was the student of Ashihara that won the all Japan title in '78...

          Small world, eh? LOL
