I don't have anything else to say on the matter.

Well... I will. What was left of the mainstream Jujutsu after 1882 became known as Judo. There are a (VERY) small handful of obscure traditional Ruyha that may claim lineage to PRE WAR jujutsu but they teach primaily ATEMI and a few basic throws along with traditional weapons.

There has been no "MARTIAL" art from Japan since the 1940's so those who claim anything after that are usually full of it...

I would disagree on this to a degree. I have had some exposure to a few koryu juju ryuha and I have seen (and received) a significant number of takedowns in them.

The more a particular Ryu emphasizes THROWING the closer it is to Kodokan judo...

There are more than 65 recognized throws in the Kodokan syllabus.

Throwing bacame the primary focus after 1925...

Let me ask this? did they use a gi? was there a rank structure with belts?

          say "judo"

Keikogi & hakama - and menkyo system. Not as many throws as KJ though.

Doing kata on peoples' graves is not polite so I will keep it short. I am saying Mr Penland's swordsmanship wasn't legit. He & Mr Alexander made DVDs of stuff that was made up. I'm sure Tant01 will fill you in on his side of things.

*Shrug* Kinda what I figured. Not that it matters. I never took up the sword. I'm just kinda curious on how much of the lineage is bogus.

To be perfectly honest I never trained with Penland and I know next to nothing about his Jujutsu.

Lets just say I'm (VERY) skeptical of any system that offers black belt video courses...

Fortunately I have a few back up styles to reinforce anything bad.

I'm not saying the "grand master" had bad jujutsu... I'm sure his stuff impressed lots of folks... I'm just not one of them.

If the man could impart solid fundamentals I'm sure his students demonstrate it.

There are worse examples of self made grand masters, to be sure!

Looks like he blended a number of styles to create his jujutsu... more power to him.

                          And, RIP

Oh, I don't fault people for creating their own system. I'm just trying to find out what other systems might I be associated with.

You can look toward Okinawan Karatedo (Shorin) and kenpo kung-fu

                                .... And judo.
