  • Ninjutsu,Jiu-Jutsu,and Hapkido

Well I'm going to be training in Boxing,Muy-Thai,Judo,Tae-Kwon Do in the next few years the last art I'm trying to choose between Ninjutsu(preferably the Taijutsu component),Jiu-Jutsu, or Hapkido and from My research all 3of them have some similarities they cover all ranges from strikes, throws, blocks, joint locks, kicks, ground fighting, evasions, etc so what makes these 3 arts different from eachother other than the names are there any significant differences ninjutsu has over jiu-jutsu or hapkido has over ninjutsu. And as far as My experience goes I took tae-kwon do in My childhood ,some boxing during My early teen years and alot of streetfights throughout My whole life.

the question you are asking is really hard to answer especially when it gets down to the various schools from each of these styles. i can help you with your question but you will have to answer some of mine first.
    1. why did you choose these three particular arts?
    2. what are you looking for in them? ie fighting skill fitness discipline etc.
    3. what do you think you would be most interested in and why?
    4. have you researched the various schools involved in these arts?

      Ok sure
1.I was looking for an art that covers all ranges of fighting and those 3 specific arts met that criteria.
2.I'm looking for fighting skills and discipline I don't have a problem with fitness since I play basketball and occasionally walk or jog through My neighborhood.
3.hmm well Ninjutsu and Jiu-Jutsu see very deadly combat arts(although that's not the dictating reason I want to learn them) and hapkido seems more like a tradiational martial art like I said earlier they all seem to go over the same stuff except Ninjutsu and Jiu-Jutsu are fore a more serious situation .
4.There are a few places that teach Hapkido in My city(Fort Worth,Texas) and and one Ninjutsu school that teaches private lessons in Dallas the instructors look outta shape and a little overweight and I'm a little weary about that. I have researched Jiu-Jutsu schools for My city and so far all I can find are BJJ and GJJ and I'm not interested in those since BJJ relies heavily on ground fighting and I doubt it will work outside of sports and in the streets.

I'm not sure if I'm wanting to learn these for the right reasons but it's honest.

well they all do cover all ranges of fighting. hapkido is actually very young art being less than 100 years old. it came from daito ryu aikijujutsu. all of these arts are very combative. i would say that due to your location and the fact that the ninjutsu school you are refering to also teaches jujutsu study all three of these they compliment each other very well. those are actually robert busseys back ground arts as well. the man at the ninjutsu school is ralph severe don't let his appearance fool you as he is a ninja. the man is very capable and i would highly recomend him. he also teaches systema there. you would definately enjoy your experience training with him. his students are capable fighters also. they fight against other schools quite often to test their skills. ou tube has some clips of these fights just type in dallas ninjutsu.
