OK, I can do better than that.

I recently started private lessons in judo. I have always been an advocate of it, especially for women, felt it would play well into self defense. So I had to finally take my own advice. Private lessons are much more intense then a class enviroment.

The Everlasting White Belt at your service sir.

We have a local valley tourney coming up in November.

And Spanky here is going to enter the White belt class, so he can kick the newbies arses.

          Shame on you.

I do rate Judo, but I would love to learn the original Kodokan Judo, instead of the sport variety.

            We'll see about that.

            It is a valid concern.

Although I am a white belt in Judo (officially) I'm pretty sure it would be unfair to compete at that level.

I'd much rather enter the brown belt class and win 3rd as a white belt than to enter and win first at the novice level.

We are actually doing Kodokan. I don't know all the differences, though I do believe that there is a lot of Kodokan left out of sport Judo.

I did Judo for a while. What do you want to know? Good art, Judo. A little sporty and some people don't like being thrown, but it's still fun and good training.

I love the throws. They are actually working with Mike Swain to add a judo element to our system. Not sure I like the idea but judo is fun.

                    randori

I only have a few training partners, so a couple of us are joining the local judo club so we can play with more people.

Do any of you ever practice with an imaginary opponent? Much like shadow boxing. I was told even with judo it is a good way to work your form/technique.

You need to spar (Randori) a bunch of people to use your skills against a variety of opponents with different skill levels, speed, strengths, etc. This helps you develop reflexive fighting abilities.

You wont get this from private lessons.
