Actually, my DRN teachers have told me what to do but, as you well know, my head is a little hard. Thanks for looking out for your old friend.

You think those Bujinkans learned much about the Sword in 2007 - 2008? Don't think Hatsumi Sensei was too happy about what he saw. So the Kans have something easy - Togakure Ryu. You think we can translate Togakure Ryu into Urban Warfare techniques? Year of the Rat

Darth, my friend. Many years have passed since Hatsumi talked about the smile. Its a martial art technique. He has his reasons and has taught this to his students. Not my problem if his students don't pay attention. Musashi has his gaze; Hatsumi has his smile. Both are basic to each Ryu.
But of course, you can't answer the question how Hatsumi told you about why he smiles.

That is rather sad in my opinion, but not outside what I have come to expect.

Again, if you are taking any herbs my advice is to quit and if you are not, talk to someone who is able to tell you that talking with Hatsumi when he is actually in another country is a good reason to take what they give you instead.

        • Ahhh.... Herbs! Being from Humboldt county, we are not unfamiliar with the "herb"

You both need to LAY OFF the "herb"...

          LOL

          JK.

WHY does Hatsumi smile? TY (could it be the HERB???)

I can say with complete honesty that I have never smoked any sort of herb. The closest I have come is drinking while under age and some Cuban stuff out of America.

But then again, I am not the guy who said that Hatsumi told him the meaning of his smile even though I have actually talked with him in the last few weeks.

            • I don't imagine "Hatsumi" would indulge either.... No disrespect intended... just trying to make light of the tension I sense here in the Ninja forum. You guys scare the hell out of me!

The only point to be considered is a martial arts technique. In what form, when or how Hatsumi conversed with myself is not a concern. To halt your inquisition, I should post an actual QUOTE since Hatsumi not only explained the theory but published the statement many years ago and published the statement more than once. For now, I don't want to republish his statement because I don't want to end the discussion by giving the answer.
                Hint 1 was "Musashi's Gaze."
                Hint 2: "Power."

You mentioned it, so you you need to back it up.

Unless you want everyone to think you are just hallucinating yet again. If that is the case, then just keep refusing to back up what you say despite you bringing the subject and everyone will know to treat you as a person who speaks to people that are not there.

                  • That goes without a doubt.

Who, ecactly, is this "everyone? Just funnin with ya. Actually, I'm here to look into martial arts. Doesn't matter as I'm interested in what these Forun readers think:

When you're in a self defense mode, what effect does the expression on your face tell the bad guy?

                      Should you be expressionless?
Should your face show fear or a loack thereof/
Should you look the person in the eyes with no emotion?
Should you only look at his stomach, his eyes, his forehead?
Should you NOT look at him period/
Should you look at him/her with a smile on your face?

Here is some more information on Frank Dux from another site.

Frank William Dux is a modern American neo-ninja innovator. He is also the founder of an amalgamated martial arts with the anacronym FASST, also called Dux Ryu. Frank Dux is also the author of the book, "The Secret Man" (1996) published by ReganBooks. The film Bloodsport is alleged to be based on events in his life. Representatives for Cannon Films, the maker of Bloodsport later admitted they had not thoroughly checked Dux's claims.
Frank Dux is unique in that he claims to have been taught the martial art of ninjutsu secretly by a neighbor during his adolescent years growing up in Woodland Hills, California. There is no evidence of the Ninja teacher, Senzo Tanaka, sometimes referred to as Takizo Tanaka, or the two nephews of Tanaka which Frank Dux says he trained with.
Mr. Dux also claims to hold an official heavyweight title from an institution called the International Fighting Arts Association. According to research done by John Johnson and M.C. Busman, no such association exists as a sponsor of "kumite" type tournaments. John Johnson of the Los Angeles Times wrote about Dux in the groundbreaking 1988 article, "Ninja: Hero or Master Fake? Others Kick Holes in Fabled Past of Woodland Hills Martial Arts Teacher". Reporter Johnson debunked Frank Dux's Kumite and Military claims.
During the 1980's Frank Dux told numerous martial arts magazine reporters that he had seen combat as a Vietnam War Veteran, and was highly decorated. In the November 1980 issue of Black Belt magazine, Editor John Stewart introduces Dux as a martial artist "...who compiled a distinguished military record during the Vietnam Conflict" (page 28). In a 1987 issue of Inside Kung Fu Presents, Dux told interviewer Michelle Klein that he'd been called to serve in Vietnam and came away with a chestfull of medals, telling her "My time in the service is something I'd rather not talk about anymore, I could tell you story after story of how the training I received in ninjutsu helped me to survive, and I assure you, it did...for example, knowing something as simple as how to execute a flat fall properly allowed me to avoid a bullet through my chest..." (page 50)
Military records posted on Frank Dux's webpage verify Frank Dux never served a day in Vietnam or in Combat. Frank Dux now says he never claimed to have served in Vietnam. Print evidence of his claims exists however, including his own words to reporters. See: Stewart, John. "Kumite: A Learning Experience", in Black Belt, November 1980 v. 18 #11, 28-34, 91, and also Klein, Michele. "Frank Dux: The Man Behind the Legend", in Inside Kung Fu Presents: The Complete Guide to Ninja Training, May 1987: 48-53.
Contrary to popular belief, Frank Dux does not hold any confirmed world records. He initiated a lawsuit against Soldier of Fortune magazine, but the effort was dropped and no civil suit made it to the trial phase. Frank Dux lost a 1998 suit against actor Jean Claude Van Damme concerning royalties for a film script.

I advertently clicked on the first page instead of the last page (this page). Navigating to this page, I found my username (sojobow) on about the 5th page. Can't believe that I was actually in this forum and this thread back in early 2004. Stayed for a while but vanished again 2 years later. I do know why as I actually faced death twice since 04. Doctors had to pull me out of darkness. Training was hard. Noticed that people here were posting using different screennames and a couple of posters even argued with themselves. All trying to prove their negatives.

Strange thing is, you are still using the same old rhetoric, articles, arguements for over 6 years and the articles you reference are about 10 years older.

You will realize one day that you are losing to someone who doesn't even have to fight back. You should be concerned that he doesn't ask the same questions to you about your own system. I'd be concerned that, if this happens, that system will fall to peaces worldwide.

Me? heck, I'm trying to figure out why someone should learn to ride a horse and hit targets with a 7 foot bow versus making a hand-held microwave weapon.

And of course, there are no police or medical records. How ninjer like.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! You actually think I would dishonor this forum and their members just to prove to Darth Roley hospital release records????? You 'ain't that important.' Get over yourself.

Now, just between you and I, how much will you pay me (not less than $500 -money) for the medical records? Put up or shut up!

Did you get a chance to ask Hatsumi about his smile since you constantly converse with the Master?
