DUDES, learning to generate power from a very short distance. Short choppy elbows, short slaps to the ears, many many many inside the gaurd gnp strikes are basically...TADA a one inch punch.

I'd learn to shoot a gun thought before I learned JKD 1 and 3 inch punches. Rather practice being as far away as possible.

Will it help your boxing? I dunno.

      Punching from little distance.

The mechanics behind a 1" puch are the same for a wingchun vertical knuckle. I have attached a doc, which explains why there is greater base of support in a vertical fist. The other very common-sense approach is that if you can produce high impacts from little room, you will have more success when the distance is right. To perform a 1" punch there a a variety. The push, the snap and the medium in between. I use the same princaples when doing most of my punches. You dont need to rotate the hips, the body must be kept straight.

one inch punch only works if you hit your opponents center, if he isn't moving, and if you aren't wearing boxing gloves.

tHIS IS NOT REALLY TRUE, THIS IS ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. hERE IS A CLIP OF ME 1"PALMING WITH A HARDBACKBOOOK ON HIS CHEST.

What I was getting at is that if you learn and understand the concept you can apply i

WHO EVER SAID THIS IS CORRECT, AND WHOEVER SAID YOU CANNOT IS TALKING FLUFF. YTHE IDEA OF A JAB IS NOT JUST ARM, ITS A SHORT FAST PUNCH.(FROM THE LEADSIDE) IF YOU CAN DO IT JUST AS FAST BUT HARDER THEN ITS BETTER(COMPRIMISE). I HAVE KNOCKED PEOPLE DOWN WITH MY JAB, SO I TOTALY HAVE FAITH IN MY TECHNIQUE. I PRACTICE USING A CONCRETE BLOCK(90)KG WICH IS ON A METAL GREASED BENCH. i PRACTICE SHUNTING IT ALONG, AND PUT A RUBBER MATT ON FOR FULL PUNCHING. TRYING TO SHUNT IT FORWARD.
