Speaking of WWII Combatives, I'm with ya', I love that stuff. I have boxes of books and manuals on Combatives from all over. I recently moved and its driving me nuts because a friend gave me a circa 1950 manual from the NYPD academy. Its packed away somewhere courtesy of the wife.


I got to look through it briefly before it was packed, and it was way cool. Boxing and Judo. Chokes using the other guy's tie, shirt collar and jacket. Restraints using the jacket and shirt. Cool stuff. The best part was the student/officer had made notes in the liner and between paragraghs. Neat to see that although a lot of things have changed, most things have stayed the same.


I gotta get some sleep because I'm done for the night and tomorrow I'm off to Miami.

I have trained with Sammy Franco before. He is very well studied on the topic of combat self-defense. Knowing him I know he is laughing at how ignorant you are Mr. Bri. You know nothing of the type of violence there is on the mean streets of american cities. You are a British cop right? Thank you so much for your kind words! Tis such a pity that the Top Windowcleaner himself is too busy laughing to come and keep me company.

Are you American? No offence to other US people on the forum. But for every one saying that British cops don't see as much violence as American cops, there is another saying that Britain is far more violent than the US. Something to do with your Right to Bear Arms making you a "polite society". They can't both be right, can they?

Personally I reckon that there isn't too much difference, excepting the fact that we have less firearms in criminal circulation. But, guess what? We police almost exclusively without firearms ourselves. When we need to play rough, we do it with our fists.
