Imagine going to a car show room, seeing that old Honda CRV you fancy, and asking the salesman about it. What would you do if he said "I've answered these questions loads of times. I'm not saying anything out of blind loyalty to anyone. To be honest, your respect doesn't mean shite to me. However, my ability to think freely does, and as a result, I do not just parrot what someone says because I think I owe it to them.

I never stated that you weren't 'loyal' to CFA. No one here owes loyalty to anyone. If you don't like it, don't get it. I was simply noting that you used to sing the praises of Sammy Franco and other RBSD instructors, yet you were very quick to jump on him here. I was wondering why, nothing more.

I'd like to chime in here:

1) First off, stop the ad hominem on NON FORUM MEMBERS. Sammy is not a forum member and I will no longer tolerate anyone thrashing and bashing on him.

If you do not like him, that's you're problem. If you don't like his product or message then feel free to tee off, but do it more responsibility. There are consequences beyond the individual posters that we may have to deal with and

IT STOPS NOW!


2) I agree that if someone sells something they should stand behind it and address customer (or other people's) concerns. If you don't like what someone says, does, or how they present it, don't by their product and feel free to enumerate the reasons to discourage others from buying said product.
But do so in a civilized manner or be gone with your bad self.

3) Having said all this, I agree completely with what my friend Bri Thai has to say. If your teaching life and death survival skills the right thing to do is to address these issues. I've seen many times where someone shuts down dissent in their own house and refuses to go outside their house to address concerns. To me, both paths are chicken shit (notice I'm addressing the behavior here and the specific people).

You will never catch me editing, banning, or taking administrative actions on posts for someone I disagree with. Now, if you get all stupid that's a different story, but I grant more latitude my enemies than on my friends.

In short, there's a whole lot of wrongdoing going on and as they say in the movie "That Dog Won't Hunt"

You have to read between the lines, ignore certain parts, and generally have a bag of salt handy when you read his posts, but he serves a very valuable role on this and other forums.

He is an A1 class bullshite detector. There are no sacred cows where this Limey is concerned.

If you can convince Bri Thai on a concept, you've actually accomplished something.

Most people get hung up on the setup and completely miss the point of his posts.

It's fun to watch people squirm.

If you are consistent in your logic and what you post makes sense, then you'll usually end up well after Dancing with the Devil from Manchester.

Oh well, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. I'm not blasting the guy, just making a note. I remember in his original book on street fighting over 12 years ago, his bio appeared to me to be of a seminar guy. I didn't get the impression that he ever stuck with any particular system, nor did he claim any kind of rank in anything, just a hodge podge of stuff.

His book at that time was "original" JKD strong side forward etc. and stressed one attack method, combination attack. Also, if I remember correctly, he was against any sort of grappling in that book as well. Now he has a ground fight program. I think that shows growth, but I'm a little concerned over the fine vs. gross motor skills explanation that he was giving.
