  • Knife and Gun video question

    Need help.

I recall there was a video from long ago where a guy is trying to un-holster his firearm while Dan Inosanto charges him from 10 yards away with a blade. He isn't able to deploy his weapon in time to protect himself, and in this simulation Inosanto ends up slicing him to pieces. I think the point of the vid was to show difficulties in getting your gun out when attacked.

I believe this was a training vid of some sort for weapons.

What is this video, what was it about, who released and produced it, and where can it be found?

    I know I'm not dreaming.

can't help ya w/ le vid dude

    1) do ya live in NYC dude ?

    2) I've undergone le 21 ft knife/gun test w/ a holstered SWmodel66w/rubbber bullets and a FX Glock a few times.
Le leo studies show that le average knifer and cross 21 ft in 1.2 .
Even aware, prepped,I was pumped/slashed in a blink of an eye.
Some dudes w/ more experience w/ firearms managed to draw and hit le knifer centermass when he was almost on top of le dude..so they were "killed" anyway.

What got me killed was my tendency to fixate on settling into a shooting platform, unsnapping le thumbreak, drawing while rooting/grounding myself.

A staionary target is way ezer to hit than a mobile one eh ?
Le instructor's solution to enhancing our survivbility lay in environmental awareness and tactical use of our foot work.

We were taught to not ground ourselves but to use our mobility to angle off in a J pattern,U, O, whatever :keep using mobility to angle off thus forcing le mock knifer to slow down, change his direction giving us time to deploy and point shoot/shoot from close ready. I till got cut,but in nonvital areas.

may I suggest that ya google some like "21 ft knife/gun test" ?
Since leo instructors I'm sure have done extensive research and ya may luck out oon ezer to find training vids on le subject

Oh yeah, I'm not living in NYC. Live in smalltown Midwest.

            JK,

The SEW is more of a wake up call to Law Enforcement rather than a training video. The 21 ft rule is called the Tueller Rule (I may have spelled Tueller wrong). You may be able to get more info by searching Tueller Rule. I was in TKD prior to viewing the video and we had some pretty lame "knife defenses." That video is what made me seek out a FMA instructor. I have been going to Guro Inosanto's Seminars in Tulsa, OK and St. Louis, MO ever since. If you are in the midwest you should try to attend a couple of his seminars.

Tuhon Leo Gaje is also in the video demonstrating. There is some video in a Max prison of convicts practicing techniques with tooth brushes as well.

You can get the video through Calibre Press.
